Name that sounds like Sarah...

We may be getting a rescue doggy called Sarah (if home check goes ok)
I don't like Sarah ( the name not the dog) but have been advised that we may wish to choose a name that sounds a bit like Sarah to avoid confusion

Any ideas?
All I can think of are ...umm none actually - merah, ferah, learah, yes that doesn't work at all. Please help!

I dogwalk loads of different dogs and I find they ALL come back if I call anything - Biscuit, Sausage and PupPupPup all have the same effect.
Probably because every single one of them adores Gravy Bones and knows my pockets are full of them.

Have just rescued a dog called Rufus.
It doesn't suit him and he has had a horrid life with that name
He has now been renamed Bertie Woofer for three weeks and responds every time to BERTIE.

He associated BERTIE and a whistle with a scrap of liver snap and huge praise.
He is one happy pooch :)

YY to the name + treat combo.

Would be good to introduce a 'stop' sound that isn't the new name too, like a sharp 'uh uh' instead of PIPPIN! So the new name only has positive associations.

I LOVE the surnamey Bertie Woofer name too Norks. Our dog's nickname in the family is 'His Lordship' so I might start introducing him as the Rt Hon Billy.

Why thankee kindly missbetsey
He really did not care WHAT he was called, having arrived from Africa in a crate :(
Pippin was my Nanna's dog's name. And Auntie Mabel's dog.. So pretty perfect :)

Bertie is now blissfully happy, off lead walks every day with a pack of three other terriers. His retirement will be very happy

And we LOVE PG WOdehouse

There's nothing like the glow you get from watching a rescue dog happy and flourishing in your care! Smile

Of the Wodehouse ilk I'm partial to a bit of Lord Peter Whimsey of a winter's evening. Not such fertile hunting ground for good dog names though!

I have another one called 'the dog MacIntosh'
And I am a FERVENT Peter and Harriet fan

Lovely!

We've an ex racing greyhound, probably soon another and I've always felt they suited flashy or a bit louche names. If Billy weren't Billy (we didn't name him) we both agree he'd have to be Boycie. As we think that's how he speaks.

So, sadly, no Peters or Harriets here. Though Billy has some good sleuthing skills when it comes to shopping bags. Unfortunately.
