I'd ideally like a German name as he's a schnauzer or an old man style name as I think they look like old men (all bushy eyebrowed and beard) so any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

If I ever get a dog I'll be choosing between:

Winston, Horace or Ramses

Eric, I was desperate to call my puppy that, but DP vetoed it :(

diddl · 03/09/2012 08:03

I like Fritz-but is that a derogatory name for a German?

Kaspar?

diddl · 03/09/2012 08:30

Bart-German for beard.

Mungo?

LottieJenkins · 03/09/2012 08:36

Another vote for Herman. I was going to post it anyway but can see it is a popular choice! Smile

Lucyellensmum100 · 03/09/2012 08:36

is it diddl? oh! I know a german called fritz - i think its a great name (sadly the guy is a bit of a prick)

Im loving Eric though :) I know a german eric too - he's a nice old man with bushy eyebrows too.

or shnitzel but thats a bit of a mouthful

Lucyellensmum100 · 03/09/2012 08:37

Herman is a cake though ;)

diddl · 03/09/2012 08:45

"is it diddl?"

I´m not sure tbh-it was a genuine question.

I think it might be a nn for Frederick/Friedrich?

Lucyellensmum100 · 03/09/2012 08:46

now im not sure - my DP tends to call all germans klaus - i thought that was the bad one. I might have to google now, just not sure what to ask? Grin

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 03/09/2012 18:33

Defo Herman :o

permaquandry · 03/09/2012 20:17

I love the name Boris for a schnauzer......

Lucyellensmum100 · 03/09/2012 21:08

It actually HAS to be boris, i bought DD a cuddly toy shnauzer today to cheer her up because she is poorly - he is called boris

schnauzerfan · 04/09/2012 12:44

Going with Otto, I already have a kitten called Herman. Thanks for all your suggestions!

PrettyPrinceofParties · 05/09/2012 13:17

I like Morton. Saw a dog the other day called Denzil! Thought it was rather cool.

kizzyg · 05/09/2012 13:38

my miniature schnauzer was named Fergus lol don't know where it came from, he just suited it.
