I need a challenge - putting his own toys away

I've just watched the dog take all his toys out of his box and am fed up with always putting them away. How do I teach him to do it himself?? Am armed with clicke and treats...

Oooh, We had a GSD who put her toys away!

We used to bring all the toys in off the patio of an evening and she would watch you doing it, so,

we started to give her the toys one by one and saying 'Take it in'.

Whenever she did it she got praise and a treat.

This progressed to pointing to the toys and saying 'take it in', treats and praise again.

Then we went on to 'put it here' and pointing to the storage box her toys were in, treats and praise again.

After a while (days/weeks) you could say to her, bring your toys in and she would trot outside and bring them in one by one and 80% of them ended up in the storage box.

She would also help carry packets and boxes out of the shopping in the car and put them on the kitchen floor.

We now have two giddy boxers and have sadly failed to train them to do anything that clever (apart from the basics).
