Hi,
We have a year old collie/terrier cross. We got him five months ago from a rescue, and all is going well. he is a really good boy and is fine at walking on the lead except that he occasionaly does sudden lurches if he sees others dogs/cats/joggers/children/sheep/anything that moves! This would be fine if we were secure with his collar/harness but we are not, on four occasions he has managed to come off, and it has frightened the beejus out of me. I think we probably just don't have the right stuff but i'm confused about what's best.
Lead: we have an extender lead. I like it because i can keep him on the lead if I need to when we're out in the woods and he can still have a run about. However if he's on the long lead and he does a big lurch that's when the trouble has started.
Collar. we have a soft collar with a plastic clip type buckle. It has snapped open a few times. Would we be better with a buckle? leather? This kind of thing:-

Harness. Got a harness when feeling worried about the collar.
Husband bought this

it tightens up fine over the back but there is a loose bit that dangles down at the front. Twice now he has tossed his head and jumped and managed to get out of the whole thing. It was terrifying. What sort should we get so that the la'al monkey never manages to slip free?
Would appreciate all advice thank you!
