My little puppy is very ill, have been to the vets where she had two injections which I think may have been antibiotics and two water injections???

She isn't eating or drinking anything not even tasty chicken which she usually loves.
I just want to know if there is anything I can do to help her in anyway until we go back to the vets tomorrow.

Even if she is only getting little drops, if you do it frequently they will help to keep her fluid levels up as some should be getting into her system. Pull up the scruff of her neck, if it stays up and goes back slowly that means she is really dehydrated, ditto if her gums feel dry-ish (run a finger along her gum at the side). If she has both those symptoms in spite of the rehydrating fluid, and she is still being sick so often , then she really does need seeing and you will have to call the vets again or find a different vet. I hope she is ok op.

Nearest Tesco is quite far but have made up the rehydration fluid as Helly instructed ... Recipe was spot on! I have just given her a little bit, to her utter dismay! She's giving me the right evils atm but it's all for her own good. She's not been sick since my last reported bout of sickness, going to give her 5/10 mins to see if she keeps down this bit of water and will try another bit.
Whilst looking up the recipe I saw that I needed to lift her scruff and see if it went back quickly or whatever it is, and that just seems as it normally does. Off to bleach the floors in the utility room whilst my OH watches over the dog in the living room .......

I hope she is better soon OP, but if she keeps being sick, do ring the vets back again.

I realise this isn't really the place to post, but really, the 'breeders' of your pups are utter arseholes. Not only did they let their bitch get accidentally pregnant, so weren't caring for her properly, but they also didn't give a rats arse about the puppies they brought into the world. Angry

missyborry · 30/08/2012 00:14

Midori the girl was a bit thick not quite with it, she said her dog had got out but didn't realise she would get pregnant that quick!
She also said it wasn't about the money yet charged for the puppies, not that I minded but if it wasn't about the money why ask money for them daft bint!

Well then she shouldn't own a dog if she can't look after it. Sorry. It's also not a good idea to buy puppies from people like this, but it seems like you weren't aware of that?

I hope your puppy will be OK anyway, it sounds like you are taking good care of her.

Midori nope I wasn't aware until I got there tbh, but I thought it best to take the pup anyway, I would have taken them all they were so adorable lucky OH was there to stop me lol

I'm not banging on anyone's door Wot, the emergency vets is in a different place and I'm not entirely certain where, not very good with directions typical blonde haha

Good news she's not sicked up the fluid but is looking very sorry for herself, I've put her to bed now in the usual place in the kitchen, I can see her from where I am sat, and she is all snuggled and ready for sleep by the looks of it. My 11 year old has been down as he's worried about her, but I have reassured him that she's been fine since the miracle fluid was given.

Thanks all for listening and advising xGrin

Hi all, sorry not been on been having connection problems. Puppy still isn't quite right, but has stopped being sick. She is drinking water fine but very weary about eating. She ate nothing yesterday but has had little nibbles of wet puppy food today, not much at all but a little.
We went back to the vets yesterday, she had another injection for something and was given a sachet of rehydration water and a syringe, she point blank refused the syringe so I tipped a little of the water into her bowl and she lapped it up with no problems.

She's still quite lethargic but I think this is due to her not eating, I think her throat is sore from being sick as she eats a little then kinda gulps like it's hurt her so we are trying little and often, and as she a right fussy mare we have three different flavour tins open! She seems to eat it this way when we alternate between the food!!

I will keep you informed as to how she is doing over the night, and I am hopeful that by tomorrow she will be more herself.

Ohh, she was also given a worming treatment on the back of her neck as she wasn't keeping tablets down.
But as she won't eat, she's not pooping! So can't check for worms yet ... Good thing for me but bad for her, not that she can't poop just that I don't have to look through it yet lol!
