What is the best thing about having a dog?

New to dog ownership (I dip my toe in the water mid September!) and just want to know the best bits about having a dog/puppy?

wlaking, when the kids are getting bickery and its raining and you wouldnt normally dream of setting foot outside the house and you would all sit in the house and have a crap day, you can get out and have wet cold fun, tis greta. and the cuddles.

Yes every day come rain or shine furball will need walking & it is a FAMILY dog so everyone gets to go too!!!

The love & companionship cannot be overestimated to compensate for the hair & mud

Lovely friendly welcome every time you come home.
Something to snuggle up to on the sofa.
Make you go for walks whatever the weather.
Have made some of my closest friendships with fellow dog walkers.
No crumbs on the kitchen floor.
Feel safer having a dog in the house when dh works away.
Great for children to care for something else.

my dog teaches me the art of selflessness.

And, more than anything , puppies are just so darn cute!

Dogs definitely do make you a better person. You try and be the being of awesomeness that you think they are.

But when you are a hormone ridden hell beast and your Tether is a distant dot far far away, that's when you realise your dog is awesome, for still thinking you are.

My pooch is my best friend, he's got me through the most difficult experience of my life. He loves me unconditionally, is never disapointed. He gets me up in a morning.
He's going to be brilliant with my baby.
He makes me laugh, smile and cry with laughter.

He's much better than a dp , although he's not too hot on the hoovering or washing up

Pickles my DH isn't too hot on the hoovering or washing up so him and my dog and pretty much neck and neck :)

I'd never had a dog either ,he's 8 months old now, and I can honestly say it has been the best thing for our family, the kids adore him, even my Dh who was not convinced it absolutely smitten.

For me the best thing is when I see him in the morning, he can hardly walk, his bum and tail wagging so much because he's pleased to see me! :)

The love! My puppy can't even get through his breakfast without running to give me a quick knee level nose dab of gratefulness and love!

Also hes very good at hoovering (will be amazing at clearing up sticky messes when our bump eventually turns into a toddler!) & would like very much to be in charge of washing up. Ironing a challenge

Long adventures in the woods in the morning, waggy tails and seeing them curled up on the couch with your children. I even like the doggy smell. So basically, everything. A house is not a home without a dog or two....

I can't imagine life without dogs now. They make me go out for a walk several times a day, even in bad weather; it's sociable chatting with other dog owners and meeting their dogs; they are great company; the look of love on their faces makes my heart melt; and they are hilarious.
