I don't want a dog!

DD (who is very persuasive) and DH are keen to get a dog, I'm not. They're looking at rescue centres.
DH is an experieced dog owner and works predominantly from home, which of course is ideal. DD is renowned for being enthusiastic about pets then loosing interest.

One of my main concerns is that I leave the house much earlier than everyone else at 06:30, no one else is up. I don't want to have to get involved with anything that wants feeding, walking or attention at that hour.

Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Had a bit of a scare the other day though, DD accidentally left the door open and he disappeared!
I was at work but DH was around. They ran around like idiots looking for him.
He's microchipped so DH told me not to worry but I panicked all the way home.
DH had been onto the police and the council and DD got a call with the address were he was.
I went with her to a house at the end of our road to find a very happy lab being well-looked after.
He's now got a new tag with our phone number though I don't think DD will be doing that again in a hurry!
