Have an 11 year old Minature Schnauzer. He had a sore foot and was limping this morning so I took him to the vet for what I thought would be a routine visit. The vet examined him thoroughly because of his age and found that he has a heart murmur and possibly a slightly enlarged spleen. I've googled the enlarged spleen and it doesn't look good Sad. Anyone can tell me anything about this that isn't as panic inducing as Google because right now I am thinking the worse. I thought I would have a few more years with him yet. They are scanning him next week. He is eating, sleeping drinking as normal and doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort. In fact I would never have guessed anything was wrong if he hadn't hurt his foot.

I don't have experience of a spleen problem but did have a dog with a heart murmur and he continued for years. This probably isn't any help but didn't want to leave you unanswered. I'm so sorry you got bad news about your poor old boy.

Thanks. I am not as worried about the heart murmur. He had probably had it for years the vet said but apparently the enlarged spleen can be a sign of all kinds of nasties. I am not ready for this. He is a small terrier I thought he would be around for a good few more years yet Sad.
