so sad
very old dog 16yrs deaf and I think nearly blind
dd was out for 15 mins , came back and found the dog under the pool cover

my friend had said the dog was fine and could be left to wander the garden and has been fine (deaf and ? blind) during previous week she house sat.

obvioulsy dd is distraught
I'm going round tonight to be with her when the family return ..to break the news.
Dreading it.

So sorry this has happened to you. If your friend said the dog was safe to potter, it is simply a dreadful accident. You can't keep eyes open all the time and it absolutely wasn't your dd's fault. It's one of those things that often isn't mentioned about dog/animal sitting, especially with friends, but what to do if something awful happens. Big hugs and comiserations to you and your dd.
Thank goodness your dd managed to find the dog and hopefully managed to get it out of the water. What a horrible shock.

thanks
she's quite shaken by it , let their other dog sleep with her last night ...hopefully won't set a precedent
