We're having the garden landscaped. It is very hot. The builders are shirtless and sweaty. Jasper is helping them. Mainly by running off with all their tools, bricks and lumps of turf. He does bring them back if they give him bits of sandwich. The DC are tearing around the garden with water pistols and writing on each other in chalk. There is Bruce Springsteen blaring out of the builders' radio. I have pimms.

I'm sitting at work. I think I hate you.

pimmsgalore · 24/07/2012 11:56

I wish for your pimms Grin

We have walked pimmsdog whilst oldest 3 DCs rip sticked along the cycle track, DD1(11) has just made cakes and cookies, DS2(8) is helping (my kitchen is covered in flour). DS1(9) is lying in the lounge complaining about life (no change there) and poor little DD2(5) is in school as its her last day today.

I am about to send them out in the garden to find pimmsdogs kong as he took it out earlier, with his bone, ball and rope tug toy and they have not returned Hmm

I have been lounging in the sun but have to keep coming in as pimmsdog wants to lounge with me and he is black and is panting like a good un :(

Have extra child home from school this evening and am guessing it will be chaos Grin

Hulababy · 24/07/2012 11:59

Dd and myself are spending the hot day indoors - worth it though as just arrived at the Harry Potter studio tour :) just having lunch before we go in at 1. Dd is behind excited , lol!

LtEveDallas · 24/07/2012 12:03

V jealous Envy

I'm working and very very hot. Will be walking dogs at 1230, but not the Rotties as they just cannot cope with the heat. DD is coming up to 'help' so it will be us two, MuttDog and 2 Cockers who will no doubt throw themselves in the dank stinky pond half way round.

BastardDog (Cocker) was very 'helpful' a week ago when MaleOwner was busy trying to erect tents for troops dicked for the Olympics. He took (and hid) 3 Lump Hammers - you can imagine the reaction Grin. Lucky that MaleOwner is the boss really...

ChickensHaveNoLips · 24/07/2012 12:03

Ooh, Hula, DS1 is desperate to do the HP tour! Let us know if it's any good.

Fat old cat has claimed her favourite sunlounger for the duration,
kitten is on the top shelf in the greenhouse chasing something..
and both boxers are under the apple tree on a blanket ( with a beady eye on me as they will not, never, ever, ever stay outside on their own !)

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 24/07/2012 12:04

Have already sorted the house, taken DD to the doctors and walked BigDog.

Going out in a minute to get picnic stuff then will take BigDog for a walk and PupDog for a carry as he doesn't get his second jabs until Thursday. :)

Working later though Sad

Hulababy · 24/07/2012 12:23

Chickens - will do. In queue to go on now!!!
Went to HP in Florida last year which was amazing. Now the tour where it all happened :)

TangoSierra · 24/07/2012 14:16

Have mowed the front garden, need to do the back, but it's so blinking hot. Digging up new potatoes with the help of the dogs. Hmm

ForgetCollette · 24/07/2012 14:24

I have tired, hot overexcited toddlers. They have been to the park, played frisbee and rounders, rolled around in the sand pit covered in factor 50 brought most of the sand home with them , played with friends, had lunch and then dissolved into tearful, hot, sweaty, shouty little things. Oh joy.

How many weeks are the summer holidays?

livismum · 24/07/2012 14:42

I have DD1 in paddling pool and DD2 is having a nap (soft play hell wore her out this morning!)
I have to (have to!) sit in the sun as spotty dog will only lie in shade if I stay out here, otherwise she stares at me from the oven conservatory!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 24/07/2012 15:05

I am trying to explain to 2 black dogs why they cant lie in the garden! Keep them cool indoors with lots of water, ice cubes and waiting for midnight to walk them!

It is nearly 30 degrees in the sun and although they both want a walk, 1 is too old (14) and the other is too crazy to stop when he gets too hot running. So wait it is.

If I had a paddling pool/swimming pool I reckon kids and dogs would be in it together.

MrsVamos · 24/07/2012 15:07

Dogs walked early this morning, are currently sitting contentedly in the shaded part of the garden.

Jax I wish I had got a paddling pool for the pup DCs. She they would have loved it ! Grin

Inthepotty · 24/07/2012 15:18

It's my dogs 1st birthday today!

We've been out for a walk early this morning, met up with his dog mates and they sniffed some trees together, had a paddle in the river, came back home for breakfast (frozen tripe, yum) and he's now sat on the front garden supervising the DCs play tennis in the street. I'm reading my book cleaning the kitchen.

Might wander down to the pub later for tea, there's mad dog lady in my local who carries pocketfuls of dog biscuits...

TantrumsAndBalloons · 24/07/2012 15:27

I'm at work. Big dog and little pup are sitting under my desk, they are not impressed with the heat, they look up pathetically when people walk past, so everyone will stop and say "Aah poor dogs" and stroke them.

Ephiny · 24/07/2012 15:47

Dogs walked first thing this morning before it got too hot. At 7am it was just pleasantly warm. I'm at work now but can guarantee the dogs are snoozing in the living room on the shady side of the house. Or BearDog may be sprawled belly-down on the kitchen tiles (belly has been shaved for this purpose!)

I'm quite liking the warm weather for myself - had a lovely sunbathe in Hyde Park at lunchtime, it was absolutely blissful, but for once was glad the dogs weren't with me.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 24/07/2012 15:50

Well, the builders have just left and the hell hound has put a lovely paw print right in the middle of the wet cement. I suspect this is in retaliation for the fact that they moved the chicken coop on to slabs today, and have thwarted his attempts to gain entry. One nil to me, pup.

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 24/07/2012 15:51

Chickens

You do realise that any other animals you have will also have to leave their mark on the wet cement, for posterity. Including the chickens. Grin

pimmsgalore · 24/07/2012 17:17

well pimmsdog has successfully chased 5 children out of the pool and now has it all to himself with cross children (and me) as he has just bitten the ring at the top so that will be more puncture repair kits needed Sad

wriggletto · 24/07/2012 18:38

Two black dogs walked first thing this morning (well, 8ish...) to prevent overheating. They then spent the day alternating between lying on paving slabs like big pizzas, then cooling off indoors like big grounded seals.

belindarose · 24/07/2012 20:05

I'm cuddling my newborn (human, not canine) so have most been indoors. Dog has alternated between idiotic tearing around in the heat, eating ice cubes and spreadeagling himself on the laminate floor with huge sighs.

belindarose · 24/07/2012 20:06

I need more shade in my garden!

ChickensHaveNoLips · 24/07/2012 20:10

Aw, belinda :) A snuggly newborn smelling all gorgeous. Sigh

OP posts:
belindarose · 24/07/2012 20:15

Smells better than the dog. But he's not so good at chasing sticks.
