pup doesnt want to wee out side!

The back door is always open, puppy is fine taking herself out to poo - she gets lots of praise and treated. has had the occasional poo inside which i just cleaned but made no fuss of it.

with the weeing i put her out side every 20mins sometimes 30 if im busy (washing or something!) if she does a wee i praise her.... then 10 mins later she would squat infront of me! i pick her up take her out side.

I can put her out, tell her to wee - wait..... nothing. she will come in and squat!!! she hasnt got a specific place as i dont use paper so not to confuse her. she just squats any where and every where, alot! :(

as soon as she wakes i put her out and she will wee but just doesnt go out herself (or most times i put her out) although she does with the poo?!

during night she sleeps in kitchen (small kitchen) dont use crate, put puppy pad down. in the morning she will have done a poo on pad but again the wee is every where but the pad??

any ideas or tips appreciated. am i missing something? thanks

If she is still weeing off the pad in a month I think you need worry....she is doing great. Remember how long it took you to get the kids to use the potty!!

ps I gave her a treat everytime until she really 'got it' as I thought afterwards was plenty of time to wean her off, but Tara is very led by her stomach.

she has done great today charlie, she has gone out every time (doors open) on her own and wee'd in time i hope she will cry/ get my attention if the door is shut - but thats in time.

although she had a bit of a wet poo earlier, may of been some ham i gave her? run out of cheese and chicken!

got to work on her leaving DD's dummy when she drops it :) ....

what breed is tara?

oh and when she went out to wee i made a great big fuss of her and treated her, then she went back out and squated - but nothing. i still made a fuss just to let her know she's doing great

Whooo hoooo thats fabulous news, I only looked in to find out how she was doing!

I think my Tara did the extra squatting thing in order to get two treats instead of one once she got the hang of it.

So whats that ten days-two weeks? Brilliant.

I worried about whether Tara would cry to be let out as my front door is open basically 90% of the time, but we had a heatwave last week and I had the door shut and she just went over and thudded her great big paw against it till I got the message.

She is a typical Moroccan street dog AnotherLoad, about border collie size but slightly longer legs, black with a white bib, and a fair bit of lab and maybe a bit of greyhound in there somewhere....a real Heinz 57. She is turning into a really nice dog....the manic periods are becoming less and less thankfully :)
