Can anyone recommend some indestructible toys....

We have a Kong but can't seem to find anything else that lasts more than a day. Any ideas. He's a 1yr old cockapoo (well 90% Cock & 10% Poo), so all the madness and none of the common sense.....

The only things that have survived an argumentative Staffy and a dumb Doodle is a black Kong and an Indestructaball!

All ropes have been shredded and unravelled in less that 20 mins, soft toys are decapitated and leather footballs are eaten piece by piece.

Only real bones work for my springer. Nothing else lasts five minutes.

I got my lab collie cross a hockey ball last week and it is looking like it may have at least 2 more weeks life in it

We have Tuffys for the border collie and 5 months on are still in one piece.

My lab destroys all bought toys in minutes so we make tuggies out of strong material, they usually last a week or so. A jeans leg is ideal as there's a double layer, twist it and make 2 knots. He loves to play tug games, also will sit and chew the knots for ages, it seems to help him relax in the evenings.

Stag Antlers are FAB - it is pretty much indestructible, and for some reason that I confess I don't fully understand, he loves it even more than a proper marrow bone.

I saw some in a high street pet shop recently. Pieces maybe 6" long not whole antlers!. Quite expensive but if they're indestructible maybe good value. We get free bones from our farm shop.

Alternatively I suppose you could roam your nearest deer park whenever it is they shed!

My mam's poodle is a terrible toy destroyer. Kong has lasted a while and a safe stix is lasting quite well (we bought one from Crufts but I noticed them in pets at home the other day)

As an aside, we discovered the other day that if a dog destroys a toy bought at pets at home you can take it back! There was a woman returning a soft toy that her dog had ripped to shreds. Have not actually done it ourself yet.

They shed their antlers???? since when????

Probably sometime during evolution of big antlers! They shed them after mating and then grow a new, bigger, more branched set ready for the next autumn rut.

I think I first learned about antlers from a Blue Peter annual somewhere around 1970 . Didn't realised dogs liked them till a couple of weeks ago though.

Cool, I'll have to keep my eyes open for some! I had no idea they shed their antlers! I'm still amazed :o

Ours are called 'Stagbars' and we got them from www.puredog.co.uk if I remember rightly. Our vet also sells them. There is also a place called www.antlerdogchews.co.uk. Hope that helps

Mine won't entertain the expensive antlers. We've got a couple of slightly gnawed but rejected ones to give away for the cost of postage if anyone wants to try them. PM me.

I've discovered a brand called Busy Buddy which they sell in Pets @ Home, my mastiff/Staffy cross who can destroy most toys in seconds, has had this for 3 weeks now, which is nothing short of a miracle! Can thoroughly recommend the range...

My dog is amazing at destroying toys within seconds. I managed to find a couple of toys she hasn't been able to destroy. Unfortunately following a very unimpressive stay at a kennels when they lost said toys I struggled to find stockists in the UK recently and so ended up getting my sister in the USA to send some back ups over to me.

She's had this one years and it's still going strong

My border terrier destroys most dog toys within seconds, but was given a stuffing-free squirrel for Christmas (by my parents) and it is still going strong, apart from the squeakers inside, which lasted about a day. It's his favourite tug-of-war or greeting-us-at-the-door toy at the moment. I think it is this one though it's looking rather more bedraggled now...

Otherwise, the other kind of toy that lasts him for ages is empty plastic bottles - 1.5l or 2l size, which used to contain something fizzy (so stronger than plastic bottles for still drinks), with the lid very firmly screwed on. He chases them round the room or garden for ages, and as he can't quite get his jaws round them they bounce away with a very satisfying loud crackle. Only problem is it is very noisy.
