Hi, sorry if this is a bit stomach churning but am really worried about my 12 week old puppy? He has been to the toilet outside for a poo which was looser than normal, but wasnt to concerned, however a couple of minutes later he ran out again, and when I went out to check found small pool of mucus( size of 2 pence piece) which he had obviously just pooed out? There was nothing solid, just mucus of a brown and red colour? He seems fine in himself but am really worried about this and not sure wether to contact emergency vet? Has anybody else experienced this?

I can't say whether it is serious or not. If the red is blood, it probably is. If it is the colour of something he ate, then well, it might just be a temporary thing.

When my girl had loose stools or was throwing up, I used to give her plain cooked rice with mashed pumpkin, and she was fine after a day or so

What breed is the dog? How much does he weigh?

Puppies go downhill very quickly, so to be on the safe side at 12 weeks, I would ring the emergency vet to ask for a qualified opinion.
