is it possible to feel puppy broody?

i got really close to bringing a puppy into our family two weekends ago only to find that they were 'farmed' and I decided against bringing him home Sad. I have now been left feeling, what I can only described as, 'broody'! My being longs for a dog to come into our family. I am sure my human pack think I am barking mad! Anyone else felt like this? Or is it just me? [sceptical]

i feel very very kitten broody.

AllergicToNutters · 21/03/2012 22:17

Ladyfingers - I have succumbed to my kitten broodiness in the past. Go on, do it!

God yes!! It is the only time my DS and I colluded against my DH. I encouraged my ds's desires/demands to get a puppy til my husband couldn't resist. 7 years later she is such a big part of our family that none of us could imagine life without her. :)

Yes I'd be more broody for puppies than babies! Does your local rescue have any litters?

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 21/03/2012 22:23

No I am very puppy broody!
I really miss my old lad who was a grumpy old man from birth and I think frankly I was there just to amuse him.
Now I'm ready for a pup someone who bring that something back in the home.

AllergicToNutters · 21/03/2012 22:27

glad it is not just me then! axure - I am constantly looking at rescue sites. I began by looking for an older dog (hence the rescue route) but as I want a larger breed (retriever/llab) I want to start from scratch. I get so keyed up about it sometimes I think I wil burst with the waiting Blush!

Good luck with finding your new dog, it will be worth the wait :)

Allergic and anyone else feeling puppy broody - there is a gorgeous litter of lab x springer spaniels on Many Tears at the moment. One of these 'springerdors' as I think they're called comes to our puppy class and is absolutely adorable.

allergic I'm sure you said you wanted one of these.

Keats really needs a new lovely home and is only a teeny tiny puppy.

AllergicToNutters · 22/03/2012 13:44

you are right daisy thank you Smile I will apply for Keats! What a beautiful boy Smile

Grin Grin Grin.

I have everything crossed for you.

AllergicToNutters · 22/03/2012 14:02

aaaagggghhhhhhh - he's reserved Sad for me but Grin for Keats. He looks and sounds stunning. Back to the drawing board for me. I really do think i need to wait until September now as we are going away end of June and then again first week in July. I will just have to wait and pine.......

TOTALLY! I have been seriously broody for at least a year, I probably could have written a novel in the amount of time I have spent on the doghouse, many tears, dogsblog, cockersonline etc etc. We've come really close a couple of times to taking the plunge, but there's always been something to stop us (like a particularly scary thread on here!). At this point I have definitely over-thought the whole thing but as I say to dh, there just is a dog-shaped hole in my life...
