OK can you tell me about your dog.

Show/working?
Colour?
How much walking?
Grooming?
And anything else you feel a prospective new owner should know

They all come with their own personalities. The first one I had was a peaceful, affectionate, gentle one with a great liking for cucumbers and lemons! Was great with kids and liked walking an hour 2 twice a day with short 10-15min walks in between.

The one we have now is indescribable - loving and cuddly but M-A-D! Runs round and round in circles, barks at nothing, watches Tv, prefers vegetables to meat, drinks milk by the truckloads and is frightened of anything that is not human.

Both not working, and low maintenance. Need a good brush down and trimming I feet and ear hair from time to time.

Mine was Black,
A girl,
Non working,
Walks, anything from three hours ramble with serious ball chasing, to 36 hours with her legs crossed because it was raining, or the broody bantam had nested outside the back door. Erred on the side of leg crossing.
She barked a lot when left alone, hated to be more than 3 feet from me, ever, loved grapes and strawberries and hated cars travel. She would whine and howl for hours in the car!
She had tonnes and tonnes of really curly hair, was rarely brushed, but was completely clipped out regularly, by me.
She never chewed anything, but was obsessed by balls. You wouldn't get any peace if you got one out on a walk. She adored water, and would stand in the tiniest muddy puddle and Try and convince me that I should join her, but hated rain!
She was an absolute angel with the children, every single day of her life. She would stand and be petted for hours, and tolerated being poked, pulled, have her food stolen, ridden on and generally manhandled.
SHE WAS THE BEST, MOST WONDERFUL, FAITHFUL DOG IN THE WORLD.
She was put to sleep in August last year. I will never have another cocker, there could never be another dog like her.

I have a sprocker, working. Take her on the local shoot, fab dog with minimal training. A bit barky and -whines- -a- -lot- talks to people she likes :) All my other dogs have been pure springer and judging from the cockers I know, I think this barking is a cocker trait. She has about 2 hours off the lead exercise a day, spread over 4 walks. And spends several hours a day wrestling with my springer. Constantly on the lookout for the possibility of a another walk... Her coat is springer so a bit irrelevant to you. She prefers women and whenever DH gives her a command she looks at me for confirmation before doing it, drives him mad :)

Can anyone help looking to get a cocker spaniel and wanted information on insurance to get trying to keep on cheaper side and info about us working will they be ok

You should start a new thread. This one is over ten years old.

They can’t be left for more than four hours. Less when puppies. Insurance will probably be from £30 per month upwards. Parasite control, grooming and vaccinations extra.
