Book about dog falling out of boat??......

A few Sundays I read in a paper or magazine, about a book that has been written about a true story, a dog falling overboard a couple's boat, they were off on a big adventure, they couldn't find him, but a long time later he reappeared.

I've tried googling and typing all sorts into Amazon, but nothing ... does anyone know the book I'm talking about?
