Oh, what joy. I sat on the floor and raked Jasper for ten minutes. He posed, lifted legs and rolled on his back so that I could get everywhere. I had a lovely little pile of red fur. Is it weird that I find this so satisfying?

It's one of life's little joys, alongside pulling the fluff out of the tumble drier filter, mingled with a sense of financial smugness that said hair is not taking up expensive space in your hoover bag. Smile

feesh · 10/02/2012 13:38

Mine is en route. I used to be all smug that we had a non-shedding dog. Then she hit 10 months and went out of her way to prove me wrong......

simbo · 10/02/2012 13:41

Do it outside and watch the birdies come down and take the fur for their nests. Even more satisfying.

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 13:43

Is it like hoovering the dog? Grin I was in Pets at Home the other day and you can see the dog grooming bit. A big long haired dog was having a blow dry and it looked like he was enjoying every minute. Grin

EllenRose · 10/02/2012 13:45

Furminator was the best purchase (other than the dogs themselves!) - very satisfying Smile

CMOTDibbler · 10/02/2012 13:47

I have a furminator for dpony, and it is fantastic. Gets dried mud off like nothing else too

Inthepotty · 10/02/2012 14:05

Chickens is yours the 'proper' one or a cheaper eBay version?? Dithering about wether to get one for my mum. Well, her dogs I mean, she doesn't shed too badly....

ChickensGoMeh · 10/02/2012 14:10

I got it from Ebay, but the packaging says Furminator. So...I dunno really Grin

Ooh I've been wondering whether to get one of these.

I like grooming the dogs. It's very satisfying. The husky likes it so much he's always sad when it's over.

ditavonteesed · 10/02/2012 16:43

it is very satisfying, I am starting to wonder if I just hoover the dogs it would save me the trouble of groomoing them and hoovering all the time, got loads out of them earlier but the house is still hairy again.

RedwingWinter · 10/02/2012 16:52

I have to say I've never tried hoovering mine. Maybe it's time for an experiment.

diddl · 10/02/2012 17:00

My parents dog used to love being hoovered!Grin

I used to have a metal (shedding?) comb.

What´s the difference?

ChickensGoMeh · 10/02/2012 17:13

I don't know if there is a difference. This is a metal comb with a comfy handle. The comb has short teeth. It looks a hell of a lot like a nit comb.

I got a furminator from amazon - and my dog loves it. First time we used it, I think he lost half his bodyweight in fur and the birds love grooming time Smile

shoutymcshoutsmum · 10/02/2012 18:48

I saw the word furminator and thought that was the name of your dog! I clicked on to hear about a new puppy Blush

ChickensGoMeh · 10/02/2012 19:08

Furminator would be a brilliant name for a dog! Especially a teeny one.

Mine came today and I'm actually amazed! Maybe my cream carpet and dyson will stand up to my lab a little bit longer now Grin

deardear · 19/02/2012 22:06

We use them on the horses and they are fab. Buy the spurious ones off eBay as a third if the price and just as good. Think mine was £9 last year and we use it on the dogs as well.

Hopefully a link

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 19/02/2012 22:10

I have been de furminating my girlie dog for a month now. She was heavy moulting at her 'back end' and it is amazing. It looked like something had been mauled and the amount of dog walkers who came over to chat and ask what I was using etc was funny. Half the time I was so engrossed that I didnt notice I had an audience.

All our local birds have lovely toastie nests for their babies now. Grin

ednurse · 19/02/2012 22:20

Thinking about getting one of these for my VERY hairy Beagle. She's reluctant to be brushed but will sometimes stand still in the garden whilst being held onto

Wheres the best place to buy thats reasonably priced? Also I think she needs the short haired/small dog one. Is that correct?

TapirBackRider · 20/02/2012 17:19

Ednurse - I got mine from Amazon, they have a decent selection on there Smile
