My lurcher puppy is approx 6 months old, not sure exactly as she was a rescue puppy, and we are having a huge problem with her jumping up at people.
when we are out with her she gets so excited meeting new people that she runs and jumps at me, mostly hitting me in the chest, occasionally she will go to jump at strangers but we are usually on the ball and manage to catch her in time!
she manages to jump vertically from standing a good 3 feet plus off the ground!
A friend told me the best way to deal with this is to push her down, firmly say no and to turn our back on her, not sure if this is helping though, we also make sure we don't make a fuss of her if she is jumping up.
Just wondered if any of you experinced dog owners would have any bright ideas?
TIA

Yes I agree with your friend, except just ignore completely, turn your back and fold your arms. You then become boring and pup will (hopefully) learn that her jumping up will make everything boring!

Rather than trying to get her to guess what she should do, try teaching her what it is you do want her to do.

She won't have a flying clue why you're pushing her down/ignoring her etc. Work on the positive. Teach her to sit rather than leap at you with lots of positive, calm praise and either her absolute favourite stinky treat or similar toy. And only use that very high value treat/toy in tht situation.
