HELP. Friend's puppy has Parvo. Please, can anyone reassure us?

Puppy is 10 weeks old, Breton Spaniel.

She was here today, was perky and played with Daphne in garden then came in and was drooling a bit. Looked a bit peaky. Then she threw up, and started pooing - really watery poo.

Friend went straight to vet and he kept puppy in.

Any vets around?

how is your friends pup today? Such a worry. Paws crossed in the Jax household.

How worrying. The vets is the best place for him. My sister's pup got parvo from a stray they picked up. He survived it. I won't say he fully recovered because he didn't. He is a very quiet dog now but he is happy. Our vet tells us it can take upto 18 months for a dog to fully recover if they fully get over it all.

Her pup was also vaccinated. Vaccinated dogs often get a milder version of parvo than non vaccinated dogs.

Fingers firmly crossed for your friends dog. It's a horrible disease and takes over very quickly, you're friend did very well to spot it in time.

Seems it was not Parvo, cause puppy perked up a bit last night and was bouncing around the vet's office this morning when he checked on him :o

Vet thinks she may have eaten something in the garden - we have a lot of acorns on the ground that puppy was chewing yesterday. We never thought anything of it, cause my dog chews on the acorns but perhaps they upset her little tummy.

It was really scary. Particularly as my friend didn't understand exactly what the vet said - apparently he thought it was carre - distemper - not parvo.

We drove ourselves a bit batty googling distemper and parvo last night. Should know better.

Thanks all for your concern. Cannot wait to see puppy again, she is the cutest thing ever. Baby girl
