No idea where it is even but if you're seeking info a Google search and a call to them, followed by a call to the licensing department of their local council is the answer as if they DO sell pups they MUST by law be licensed. A FOI request can provide you with the council's inspection details too, which can be informative, as can the regs, which should be on that or if not on other council's websites.

Bloody hell - Ihad no idea that pet shops still sold pups... Oh wait, Harrods still does. Angry

As a teenager (20+ years ago) I worked in a pet shop at weekends and school holidays and we had a rule that we NEVER sold or stocked cats or dogs (kittens or puppies) it was just something that our store wouldnt do. I dont think we would let people advertise puppies for sale either.

Anyway, sorry for the mini rant.

someone mentioned to me the other day that they had been stopped. Apparantly its all been refurbished and now only sells small pets eg hamsters rabbits etc. Scummy place.

Harrods sells puppies? Shock Now their disgusting spectacles make a lot of sense.

KatharineClifton · 31/10/2011 22:57

Meant to write 'their disgusting spectacle last Christmas'.

thanks. i am hoping to head that way before xmas with the children, and whilst i love looking at fishes, i dont want to inadvertadly walk into a shop selling pups as i know i will cry.

my dbro bought a pup from there a few years ago (him and his-then girlfriend has recently lost their boxer, and werent thinking straight at the time), and the dog collasped and died a few month later whilst on a walk. tore dbro up.

Harrods 'Pet Store' sell dogs - you know the 'handbag'/designer dogs, those small, fashion ones? Hmm

I havent been this year, but will be going late November, so will check and report back then.

Harrods were selling pups in June when I was there. 2k for a puppy! Think they had schnauzers and westies. Couldn't believe the price. Dd said " well they are from Harrods" and I said that no they'll be from a puppy farm. Even if they're from a "proper" breeder you could get a perfectly good kc reg pub for a quarter of the price. I don't see how selling them in a posh shop justifies that much of a price hike. Plus they won't be as well socialised as getting one from a home.

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 01/11/2011 10:28

I was in Harrods yesterday and they do indeed have puppies. 2 lots of chihuahas (can't spell that one) and some little dachsunds.

£2k for a puppy! More money than sense... oh wait thats what they are banking on.
