Need to rehome my dog

My lovely 10 yr old terrier cross bit my toddler a few days ago (toddler tripped over her) it all happened so quickly, but it drew blood and on her face:(
Now my husband is insistent that the dog must go, and by tomorrow.
I've phoned everyone I can think of as well as numerous rehoming centres, who all say they're full. My local dogs trust in Harefield has a 6 month waiting list for taking dogs in.
I'm desperate now, I can't bear the thought of her being put to sleep, she's a lovely dog, very easy, very healthy, just no good with young children.
Has anyone any ideas? Or know anyone? She'd be perfect for an older couple/person.
Many thanks

Update:

Pooch is now settled with BumpyBecky and family and is content, making friends with them all and allowing the cat to eat her dinner!

Becky has kindly agreed to keep her for a while to assess her, being in a home which makes that far more possible than it was for the OP to keep pooch, with the option of the rescue that I volunteer for taking pooch in at any time should Becky need to. That rescue has taken on full responsibility for pooch, with Snort's blessing and whatever happens pooch will always have a home there if needed.

However, it may not be. If the assessment goes well and the DH of the lady who recently lost to age and ill health a very similar little dog gives in to pressure :o Wink , which I'm sure he will do, pooch may go to the lady. Said lady is a fellow volunteer and supporter of the rescue with grown up children and young grandchildren as well as a Lab adopted from the rescue. She lives in a well known area of natural beauty, surrounded by countryside and pooch will live the life of riley there, spoilt rotten. So, fingers crossed. Should that happen pooch and the lady will have of course full back up and ongoing lifetime support from the rescue and, as I said, heaven forbid that the lady should not be able to keep her, pooch will ALWAYS have a home for life with this totally no kill rescue.

It's been a long day, a lot of emails, forum posts and phone calls, but worth it. :)

DooinMeCleanin · 31/10/2011 08:11

Well done DBF and BumpyBecky.

Op - I am so sorry you have had to give your dog up. I hope you can take comfort in the fact that she has gone to very good hands.

Give DH a kick iin the bollocks from me Grin

snortwithmirth · 31/10/2011 09:49

It is great, though bittersweet for me as I miss her so much, and going downstairs this morning without hearing the thump of her wagging tail on the sofa was very hard. I can't even bear to pick up the last poo she did in the garden as thats all that's left :(
But it's reassuring that she's with lovely BumpyBecky and family now and I know she'll be well looked after. And hopefully she won't be in the rescue for too long (though it looks and sounds fab!) before she gets a lovely forever home. So thanks again to DBF for sorting all of that, and I don't care what you say you are amazing!:)

aww Snort :( you're being so brave :)

I can send you more poo if it would help...

Elibean · 31/10/2011 10:30

Hugs to Snort, and Smile to the Rescuers all. This is what MN is really about, or should be!

Rhinestone · 31/10/2011 11:37

DBF I fucking love you!!! I want to give you a big hug.

And Bumpy and Witches and everyone ready to help.

Wonderful outcome.

3cutedarlings · 31/10/2011 11:53

This is what make MN such a wonderful place, well done ladies :)

snort :( im so sorry that things have worked out this way for you, ((loads of un MN hugs))) xx

wordfactory · 31/10/2011 15:55

snort I have just found this thread and wanted to send my hope that you are okay.
From what you've said this is the best outcome, but I'm sure you are still feeling sad.

BehindLockNumberNine · 31/10/2011 21:22

Wow!
Have only just found this thread. Dogs, Bumpy, Witches, you are all amazing!!

Dog sounds lovely; my ears pricked up when he was described as a lurchery mix, have a soft spot for all things pointy :-)

Brilliant outcome for the little dog, have tears in my eyes, you are all brilliant.

Snort, I hope you are ok x.

Becky, Dogs, Snort, are we allowed to see a picture of this lovely dog?

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 31/10/2011 22:07

despite me saying blindly that I would foster/rehome, I never saw a pic of the lovely dog. Would love to see a picture. And just wanted to say that DD was most disappointed that we werent going to have a 3rd dog (again) for a little while.

Come on bumpy lets have a pic of this little minxy girl. Smile

bemybebe · 31/10/2011 22:11

Pic-cha! Pic-cha!
[altogether now]
PIC-CHA!

LoveInAColdGrave · 31/10/2011 22:25

What a lovely thread . MN is really wonderful sometimes.

bumpybecky · 31/10/2011 22:31

lol! you lot are terrible Grin

will try to upload one from today onto my profile. I've been trying to get a good photo for the rescue all day but she keeps sniffing the camera and it seems my new fabby zoomy camera doesn't work too well with dog snot on the lens - who'd have thunk it?!

RhondaRoo · 31/10/2011 22:33

Oh blimey, seriously tears in eyes. It takes a lot to get me sniffing back the tears (usually pet related when it does happen!), but this - aw!

Lost for words - what a lucky little dog to have so many people looking out for her - including snort who cared enough to not just palm her off on anyone!

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 31/10/2011 22:35

some of my bestest photos of the dogs have dog snot on my phone lens. Grin

I have found using my iphone is easier than the camera - the dogs dont bother when I have my phone, but a camera is like a magnet for their noses.

bumpybecky · 31/10/2011 22:38

sorry, I can't seem to log in to get to my profile (despite the fact I'm logged in here?) so can't add a picture there. Try here instead :)

bumpybecky · 31/10/2011 22:39

you know thinking about it I should have stood further back and used the new fabby zoom [kicks self for being dim!]

BehindLockNumberNine · 31/10/2011 22:39

Photobucket won't let me in.... [wail]

Xmasbaby11 · 31/10/2011 22:44

Get rid of the dog asap. It's a shame if the dog has to be PTS but your child has to come first.

bumpybecky · 31/10/2011 22:44

oh dear! how about this link?

RhondaRoo · 31/10/2011 22:47

xmasbaby11 you need to read the rest of the post.

bumpybecky awwwwww (sorry for un-MN use of English language but seriously!)

Cute pic Smile

BehindLockNumberNine · 31/10/2011 22:50
