Have walked my dog a few times in order to be nebby. 
My friend's dog actually wandered across and joined the police gathered outside a house they were raiding, he is really old and very friendly, so the various police stood around were making a fuss of him, as she frantically tried to call him away. She says she'll encourage him in future, as it made being nosey so much easier.
