since I got cherry 18months ago, seems like yesterday. I have learned so much in that time, and hopefully passed some of that on. I shall be looking elsewhere for the advice in the future and this is the only part of it I will miss. Smile

dita I don't know what's troubled you lovey but am sorry something has.

Dunno what to say to you... not my place to implore you to stick around, you're a grown up and I certainly don't want to suggest something that would make you unhappy but by the same token I don't like to think of you hounded off here, your contribution's valuable... ugh, you know what I'm trying to say, I hope.

I owe ya one over the puppy farm thread too matey, thank you, you were a star. :)

Take care and if ever I can do anything or you just want to rant at someone, drop me a line. x

DejaWho · 27/10/2011 12:37

Ignore the usual AIBU anti-dog "we own the world by virtue of having uteruses that work" fucktards. It's dog-owner button-pushing day, it's one step above trolling with the levels it goes on at on here really. This site at times really makes me despair of womankind - for all people like to kid it shows them at their kindest, most supportive etc etc - it also shows them at their most selfish, backstabby and the attitudes toward the infertile and childless on here - well I've said it before, it terrifies me when politicians start listening to the "voice" of MN... what's going to happen to those who don't have kids - or get their pleasure and fulfillment out of owning animals - if you listened to the hystrionics on AIBU - they'd be chained up doing all the shitty workshifts, and their animals would be caged, only let out when the elite crew wanted to have an enriching educational opportunity by letting PFB pat a suitably fluffy and disinfected dog on the head.

Shall I go and start a thread about bottle feeding babies fruit shoots to distract them all? Or one of the other usual light blue touchpaper and retire classics? I know - if I start a "my mother-in-law is actually really lovely and helpful" thread - that'll kick them all off for mother-in-laws are evil evil monsters who know nothing about childrearing (despite by their definition having reared a bloke you must have liked at one point in time)!

LeBOOOf · 27/10/2011 12:46

I hid that thread immediately. I would rather not see which MNers I really like are actually wankers Grin

Oh Dita- just hide everything but this section if if means you can stick around: we'll miss you!

ditavonteesed · 27/10/2011 12:49

thanks dbf, deja, that proper made me laugh. I have not been feeling quite right this week (you know mentally like) and I think if something as mundane as the weekly dog hating thred can actually upset me it is time to take a break and get out into the countryside with my gorgeous dogs.

DejaWho · 27/10/2011 12:52

I know what you mean though - remember the wreck I ended up in when some twat said I was a shit teacher cos my uterus didn't work properly? (I await Ofsted adding gynaecological examinations to inspection criteria with interest)... and then I got banned as well (and that thread really did have me in such a wobbly state it took me a good couple of weeks to get back on an even keel).

Just seems to be the middle of the school holidays customary "bitch out all the dog owners" hysteria day on here today. I'm having a wee bit of fun with it all which is getting them all horrendously wound up!

Dita, take joy in their ignorance. Wink

Like DejaWho I'm having fun pointing out the bleeding obvious and being sarcastic.

Anyone fancy taking a wander over to the dog jumping thread and comparing dog photos on their profiles/Facebook pages? :o

I've already put up a link to long handled poop scoop for DejaWho upon the dogshit thread. (Serious, I have one of these scoops, they work a treat). If anyone else has any excellent doggy products to share with us I'm sure that those links would be appreciated on the dogshit thread too. Wink

DejaWho · 27/10/2011 13:07

I thought my suggestion of individually giftwrapped turds for those who start the dog-trolling thread was brilliant - I could do little curly ribbon and everything!

I loved being told I was "hideously aggressive" for pointing out I paid council tax and would use the facilities this contributed toward as well!

I do soooo love the wooshing noise sarcasm makes as it flies over the heads of the oblivious.

I feel sorry for them. It cannot be easy to go through life being so precious, angry and fearfull. Not to mention slightly dim. Poor souls. We should set up some sort of facility to help them Wink

I haven't read all the of the shit thread. Frankly I am sick of reading about shit on MN. Every few weeks we have an influx of cat shit/dog shit threads. It really should have it's own topic and then the sane people could hide it.

DejaWho · 27/10/2011 13:15

Best one I ever had - happened to have to walk the dogs 200 yards down the pavement to get to the field behind our houses and as time had worked out that day, the only time I could do so was school-run time. Took treats out as a distraction, meaning I could pull the dog to the side and into a sit if groups of kids needed to get past (me being such an inconsiderate psychopathic dog-owner that I am).

Mummy walks in opposite direction with a kid who really wasn't at all fussed about the dog and starts screeching at a level that would put my alarm clock to shame, "IT'S OK DARLING, I KNOW IT'S A VICIOUS, NASTY DOGGY, JUST KEEP ON WALKING DARLING AND IT WON'T BITE YOU, JUST A LITTLE BIT FURTHER NOW DARLING AND I'LL MAKE SURE THAT NASTY DOGGY WON'T BITE YOU"... kid by this point is looking terrified... at the noise his stupid mother's making, walking by the dog (who I've made sure is looking at me cos I had a biscuit in my hand - so he can't even be accused of turning his head to SEE the source of the noise) and the kid's scratching the dog's ear as he goes by sneakily so mum didn't see!

It was the most ridiculous performance - if that kid ends up terrified of dogs - it ain't my dog's fault!

DejaWho · 27/10/2011 13:16

Dooin I dare you to go suggest to MN Towers that we have a dedicated poo forum. All the "is this contents of nappy normal" stuff could go in there too, along with the dog/cat poo rants... could even see if we can get them to set the page background to khaki brown!

DogsBeastFiend · 27/10/2011 13:17

Tough, I didn't me darlin' (I mean I haven't been notified by email but then that's playing silly buggers) but hang on and I'll go look now. Sorry!

one thing that I did wonder from that thread was if cherry would make a good pat dog, think I shall look into that, anyone know what the tests involve?

you lovely lot have cheered me right up, I dont know why I got so upset tis weird.
The other thing is that I have never come across this attitude in rl, yesterday we were walking in the woods which is where I go so we dont meet anyone and a lovely family were walking the other way, eric went up and I called him back and put him on lead, the dad looked at me like I was mental and told his obviously slightly cautious child that it is only a lovely puppy see and gave him a massive fuss. It sometimes worries me that the difference in what people say and do in rl and say they would do on here is so different. If someone screamed at me for my dog approaching them I would probably be in tears (need to toughen up a bit).

Someone basically thinks they're being awesome picking holes in all the dog owners and is just looking increasingly dense to be honest.

ToughAs- I have a Cavvy too. She might well lick someone to the point of irritation, but has anybody ever met one with an aggressive bone in their body? Good grief, some people!

WitchesBrewIsMyFriend · 27/10/2011 13:36

oh, see what happens when I go on holiday??? One of the first 'active' threads I saw when I came back was the dog running at the child ...

I skim read a bit - cant even be arsed to post because it is the same old "dogs are evil, ALL dogs are bad..." not going to rise to it, not going to post on it.

dita dont let them get to you. not worth it.

misdee · 27/10/2011 13:36

i know an agressive cavvy. likely to rip your ankles off if you go too close.

Scuttlebutter · 27/10/2011 13:45

Dita, there are times when those horrible threads ARE upsetting, no matter how strong we are. I remember one (probably the last one) about a month ago where some of the usual suspects were going on about how dogs were basically better off dead - it was horrible, and I felt very upset by it since I was going through a rough patch in RL. Now, I don't even bother any more. Any responsible dog owner (like you, me or most of the regulars on MN) could spout till we are blue in the face but some people simply don't want to listen. Please stay on MN - the good threads more than outweigh the idiots to be honest. I had hysterics the other night about the "folding your knickers when you go for a smear test" thread and I haven't even got a cervix any more but that thread was pure gold - DH couldn't understand the shrieking that was coming from the office, and unfortunately I was laughing so much that I couldn't tell him.

I could tell you some heartwarming stories about how I know several of the posters on the Doghouse have carried out acts of great kindness off the board and many are hiding considerable lights under their enormous bushels (fnar!) in terms of the fantastic work they do for rescue and various other Good Things. There are truly some really lovely people here so think of them and don't stray into AIBU dog threads when feeling vulnerable. Now, I'm off to kidnap a small child to feed a starving greyhound [hwink]

Actually, what is much nicer, I'm going to visit QuietTiger, who I hope won't be embarrassed when I say that the object of the visit is to coo over a gorgeous little kitten who was dumped in a car park last week, and QT spent two hours rescuing it, and is now ensuring it is fed, vetted, watered and generally pampered within an inch of its life. THAT is the reality of MN for me - not the horrible twunts.
