Our 2-year-old lab was spayed about 8 or 9 months ago but over the last couple of days she has been acting very strangely - not eating much, clingy, whiney, and her bits smell quite strongly. I also thought I noticed a drop of blood in her bedding (which is dark grey, so it could've just been dirt Blush).

It really is as though she is in season. Can anyone explain this to me?

Get her to the vet. It could be a urinary infection, but if she was spayed badly, could be an ovarian reminant causing her to act as if she's in season, or enough cervix was left, it could be a stump pyo.

my money would be on a urinary infection, but either way, vet trip time :)
