Do you call yourself 'mummy'?

Just a light-hearted thread really. I was on my phone to Shiney recently while walking the dogs through the park. The puppy was trailing behind and I found myself calling her, "Pickle! Pickle! Come to mummy!"...

I can't tell you how much she ripped the piss out of me, but I had never given a moment's thought to the idea that I possibly sound like a complete lunatic.

So- what is the consensus?

Our DS calls us Mummy and Daddy and we refer to one another as such, therefore the dog wouldn't have a bloody clue who we were referring to if we used our 1st names with him.

I do get slightly Hmm when DH says to the dog "Where's YOUR mummy?" referring to me.

Answer: "At the bloody breeder's still presumably, I am Mummy but I am not HIS Mummy!"

You and Shiney have a RL relationship Shock

I am mummy to the dog, he is my boy, monsieur 'andsome or stinky pants depending on his state of cleanliness.

We do Exit. She comes to stay and everything. And she can chat for England. In a Scouse accent [ but I don't hold this against her ].

I was our cats adoptive mum and when DH and I got married (he was DF when we adopted her) she changed her name Blush. Not that it bothered her being illegitimate!
She was always my daughter !!

No. think of our lovely pup as being a member of the family, but not as my son. That would be truly weird. I'm also not terribly sure when I would need to call myself anything to the dog.

When I say to my doggy "Daddy's coming home" he pricks up his ears and goes and listens at the door. Clever boy. More than DS ever does.

No don't call myself 'mummy', it wouldn't have occured to me really - but other people refer to me that way, which I thought was a bit odd at first but don't mind now! I have no problem saying I love him and he's part of the family though.

And I do call him my baby and my little boy Blush, despite him being an enormous hairy beast...
