I live in London and would love to adopt a Maltese. I have a 9 month old male terrier cross.

I would take any age Maltese.

There may be a Maltese rescue society, but if you would consider a Bichon they have several at Many Tears - although that is in Wales they are fostered before rehoming all over the country.

do you think Bichons are fairly similar in temperament. I want a little toy dog that knows it's a toy dog rather than thinking it's a terrier. Apparently Maltese's are great lap dogs.

Have you looked on Prodogs?

They have lots of smaller dogs on there at the moment, and are in London. They say they would prefer a home without small children for many of the small dogs, so I guess it depends on how young your children are, and whether you can win the homechecker over.

Mad - my youngest is 11 - and used to a terrier! Let's see!

Are you going for one of their dogs? I would not have thought an 11 year old child would be a barrier, and having a resident dog should be a plus.
