We have had Maggie 12 days now and I am just so impressed with her I have to share!
She has been allowed out on the ground since Friday, she has been out and about in my arms but we took the step to take her out to a huge park. She went off the lead and had an absolute ball the first day, saw people playing tennis, a boy playing cricket with his dad, kids in the playground on swings, a man cycling his bike, a couple of other dogs it was great. We hadn't yet taught her to come back and she did run after the man on the bike and was also reluctant to come away from one of the dogs she met (even though I had her on lead) so I thought we have to nail this one quickly.
We took her out to same place yesterday and it was a bit quieter so husband and I both armed with treats practiced asking her to come to and from us both. She caught on very quickly, I did notice that sometimes she doesn't respond to her name but if you make a kiss noise she immediately looks up you have her attention and she then comes back. Towards the end of the session she came to me from a big stick she was playing with and then the money shot was when she ran after a running 4 year old child and as soon as I said Maggie come she came back! clever girl!! The mother of the child was very happy as child was running in front of mum so obviously mum was a bit worried as she saw the puppy running up to her daughter.
Just to re-enforce it last night in the garden my husband and daughter were playing with her and a ball and I came out into the back garden and asked her to come to me and she did.
Got to keep it up obviously but I am so so pleased with her!
