....blocked and infected anal glands.

Poor thing,he's had them emptied and has antibiotics and anti-inflamitories.

This is why he was scratching so much, hopefully he will feel better soon,he's feeling very sorry for himself now.

Aww, hope he feels better, same here, took ours to vets monday same thing, just licking top of leg no scratching. Now on antibiotics but hellishly difficult to give as she is an expert at concealment then spitting out when your not looking Grin

i have cocktail sausages, cut one in half, make tiny slit in it and push the pill inside,he swallows it whole and is none the wiser!!

my dog had problems with her anal glands. after squeezing glands and suffering her look of betrayal at the indignity of emptying them we changed her food. vet advised to try different foods until we found one that helped her poo to be firmer and bigger - ewww why do we always get back to poo - so that it would press on the glands on the way out. he said firmer and bigger and less often was our aim Grin

her glands never got infected though. just stinky discharge. she was facing an op but has been ok for the last few years since changing food

i find the best way to trick give dogs tablets are to hide it in some tasty food and have some more tasty food in my other hand. they are so busy gobbling the first treat whilst oggling the second one that they automatically swallow

Good idea with the cocktail sausages refmum, we had used ham to wrap pill, plus another bit of ham, then dinner- husband goes to wash dish and finds one pill neatly left in otherwise pristine food bowl!Grin chickchickchicken, I agree about the food idea had researched it and an online vet reckons problems with anal glands mainly diet based.

My dog is sooo happy today,no scratching at all Smile

His ppo's are always formed, just need to make them harder! vet nurse said to give him beef bones (raw),she does this for her dog and it makes the poos harder, she said not lamb or chicken bones.
