Update about Big Issue Seller with Pregnant COllie/lurcher

Hi everyone

I'm just updating following my post a while back. The guy in question hasn't been around for some time as Charli had, had her pups. She gave birth to 10 and they are now six weeks old and are doing really well. Having said that I have only seen photos.

Six have found homes and I have managed to persuade him to give the others to rescue for rehoming and he is very keen on this.
Can any of you recommend a good rescue in this area, Oxford, for me to contact and get the ball rolling. I got my own dog from MAny TEars but, they aren't local to me, is it worth contacting them to see if they have fosters locally.

Healthwise they have all been checked by a vet and Charli's owner has arranged for her to be spayed.

I can't find my previous thread which some of you gave some brilliant advice on. Sorry to ask again

I'd recommend some of the guys at LurcherLink or similar. Bear with me, I have a rescue in mind... it's not local and well respected so their fosterers are seemingly always full but worth a try. They're all breed (except Staffs Angry :( ) but have a speciality in Collies whilst one of their volunteers is a well-known Lurcher rescuer so it might all fall into place. Will come back to you asap.

I've just spoken to Jenny at Southern Lurcher rescue and she says they have foster places available if I can confirm they are definitely lurchers. She has asked me to email photos over to her.

I've just been out to speak to the guy again but he has packed up for the day -I have left a message with one of his friends. I hope he gets in touch soon as I'm on holiday next week. If I knew where he lived I'd try and persuade him to hand them over now and keep them until rescue could be finalised.

Of course if I was a bit more on the ball I'd have got some contact details from him [embarrassed].

Brilliant!

Well done, quick work. Let me know if Jenny can't help, but hoping she can. :)

I have to say this though - I do get bloody annoyed that rescue (and I'm NOT singling out SLR here, anyone in rescue will tell you that they're almost all the fecking same) will offer so quickly for pups but will meet requests to take a single older dog with stony silence.

I guessed that Vallhala, there was no hesitation at all when i explained what I was looking for. I just hope he gets in touch and doesn't change his mind.
The situation is slightly more complicated than I first thought in that the dog is shared between 2 people and the other pups were sold rather than given away. I hope that they see sense and let rescue take them, the guy that I have met will be fine I think the other of course is an unknown quantity. Perhaps I could have a quick word about declaring this for benefit purposes!!
