How long can I call my puppy a puppy?!

I am guessing he is classed more of a dog now rather than a puppy at 11 months old. Especially as he is the size of a horse (Slight exageration but he is a huge puppy!)

I like him being my puppy but DH pointed out tonight that he isn't really a puppy anymore.
So does that mean my last baby is all grown up now? (DD and DS aren't babies anymore either at 12 and 9)

Aww kid, same here. DD1 and DD2 aged 15 and 11. I still call Poppy a puppy now and then and have to remember to say "my dog" and she goes to "dog classes". She's 12 months now so I have no excuse at all any more.

Mind you, DD1 still says "come on Puppy Budgen :) " to our older dog (which is what she used to always call him when she was 6 and he was a puppy). He's 9!

A puppy is a puppy until at least 18 months, bigger breeds 2 years or even a bit more.

So you can have him as your baby for a bit longer Smile.

I was calling my Akita puppy till the day he died (of very old age). He'd get very excited when I came to visit him greeting him "Puppy, puppy, puppy, where's my puppy"

Although Akitas are huge. I would get some funny looks if I called him Puppy or my teddy bear while we were out Grin

Well it looks like DH will just have to accept that T is still a puppy for a while longer.
Its his (pups) birthday in 27 days! He is going to meet his mummy, brother and sisters for the first time since he left her. I just hope he isn't the naughtiest one of the litter but I have a feeling he is Grin Nevermind, as he is also the cutest lol

kid Lolly is now 8 months old and she is still my puppy - although a bloody large one.

Loofa is 2 now and he is still my puppy, he is our special boy and will always be a puppy bless him. Pretty sure something went 'wrong' when he was so ill last year and although smart he is a little bit bizarre at times. Lolly gives him the look at times and if she could she would roll her eyes and shake her head.

Dingo still got called 'puppy' on occasion (at home!) when he was 14, even though he came to me from rescue aged about 12 months Blush
