My dog seems to have trained me.....!

When out for a walk, my little dog (18 mths) will often sit down, let me continue walking until I turn around to say 'come'. She will then run to me and get her treat. I think she thinks she has trained me to do this! I also wonder if she just keeps picking up things in her mouth so I will say 'drop' and she will get a treat. Is this just my dog or has anyone else's dog got the better of them? Should I fade out the rewards? When she was younger and I took her to puppy school, the trainer said that training should be done throughout the dog's life, a little bit every day, but I think she is getting crafty now!

i think its great to keep up the training and making it part of daily life.

when i trained my dog to empty the washing machine for me he started to also get the clothes off the radiators and bring them to me. was soooo cute

My Beagle is fantastic at training me! She has recently started obeying the drop it command, I decided I needed to teach her this as I was fed up of chasing her round the garden trying to retrieve stolen slippers, hair scrunchies, newspapers, crocs etc etc etc! So I taught her drop it and treated her as reward each time she dropped it. Now she steals things brings them to me stands in front of me waits for command and treat!

Sounds like you have clever dogs!
My dog hasn't mastered the drop command yet, he would prefer I wrestled it out of his mouth! He doesn't understand in or down either (or maybe he prefers not to understand them?)
When I raise my voice and shout 'GET' and point in or down, he will do as I want him to do. I keep hearing how clever springers are, I'm not convinced though Grin
