... what do you think?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1200215-MNHQ-can-we-have-a-couple-of-stickies-please

I believe that it could be very useful and would save MNers from having to search back over 100s of pages for answers on standard topics such as what to look for in a responsible rescue or what to do if you find or lose a dog.

If I'm being too bossy, I apologise. It just seems to me that this might be helpful. Your opinions are valued either way.

Some topics to consider - what to think about if you want to have a dog. How to find a reputable behaviourist. A thread about BARF/raw feeding. Pet insurance. Common illnesses/health issues. Things that are poisonous. What's involved in being a foster home. What happens when you are homechecked by a rescue? Dog Control Orders.

Great idea.

Sounds like a good idea in principle.

I think this is an excellent idea. I've learnt so much from the wise people on here but I read doghouse a lot. Having stickies would mean that people who come here for the first time could get all that excellent advice straight off.

great idea

Excellent idea!

Definitely one on the advantage of getting a rescue dog

noscat · 24/04/2011 18:45

yes, that would be useful.

Yes very good idea, I agree it would be good to have one on why you should consider a rescue dog - including a debunking of some of the common myths about rescue, e.g. 'rescue dogs all have behavioural problems', 'you never know the history and have no idea what their temperament is like', 'it's dangerous to get a rescue dog if you have children', 'puppies are more suitable for homes with children', 'Staffies and similar-looking breeds tend to be aggressive' etc.
