Going to toilet in new place - tips needed

We rehomed a labrador bitch a few months ago and now our lawn is looking very sorry for itself and my DH has banned her from the lawn ! This means I am taking her out 4 times a day and the late night walk is not much fun ! We have fenced off the bottom end of our drive to make a pen for her but she just will not relieve herself in there. We even put 2 rolls of turf down thinking the grass would give her a cue that she could wee there. She loves lying on the turf but even when she seems desperate she will hold on and not toilet in the pen. Any ideas how I can overcome this ?

we have always used a command word and reward with each new pup and within days (hours with latest pup) they will go on command. First thing in the morning when she does go, use one word command, you can use 'wee' or 'quickie' or 'peanuts' if you wish, jusr any one word. As she goes, say the word and reward immediately. Do that at each toileting session then try out your new pen, remember reward! I think she is just confused at the minute, used to her own garden and now shown this new place with no smells on it! I would also be inclined to put some of her wee on it, in the shape of some of the old grass from the back or catch some when she does do it (or towel or similar) and rub it into new pen.

Good luck, she won't be stubborn for ever!

Thank you will try a word when she does a wee on a walk and then try her in the pen........watch this space.
