Title says it all really. They have only been in the house six months, but this is a more recent problem (last couple of weeks) but I'm a SAHM so it's really starting to get on my nervase.

I want to tell them but not sound like I'm just winging myself as idealy I'd like them to actualy deal with the problem.

how long is the dog left for? could you offer to let it out?

Just say to them 'do you know your dog has started to whine when you are out?'

If it only happens when they are out of the house, then they aren't going to know that it's happening. And if it's just a recent occurence and theh dog used to be quiet when left alone, then there may be something of concern going on that they need to know about.

You don't have to sound like you're moaning. Just pitch it that you're bringing it to their attention out of concern because it's not usual for the dog to behave like that.

I don't think it's a problem to approach them - they may well be totally unaware. They might even appreciate knowing their dogs are not altogether happy! Presumably something has changed if this is only a recent problem?

My dad always leaves a radio on quietly for his dog and that seemed to do the trick. Alternatively they could consider a dog flap if this is practical re: size of dogs, security of garden etc.

Oh difficult one, but one thing I know is ..... If they think that you think their dog is lovely and and best thing on four legs, they will think you are the nicest neighbour ever, so you could start with that, then next time you see them....." OH he really misses you when you're out, We can hear him, we really worry about him he sounds so sad...... It would work with me....Did work with me! Blush.
