Just an idle question re dogs and passports

How does it work?

Can you take a dog on a Thomas Cook holiday? I'm kidding.

It is a serious undertaking still to go on holiday with your dog, I remember many years ago it was 6 months in quarantine to bring them back.

We did this as we live in Switzerland.

Daphne has a passport, in which is recorded her vaccinations - the rabies one is particularly important - it has to be done a certain time before the trip and then checked to make sure that the protection is ok.

Then we have to go to the vet to have her wormed and tick treated between 24 and 48 hrs before checking in to the airport/ferry port. It is the check in time that is important, not the arrival time in UK.

It was actually quite easy.

Dead easy but you have to get your timings right.

Tells you about it here dog passport

We take our dogs competing abroad regularly. We use the tunnel so the dogs can stay with us. Very easy at Calais when coming back as special area for checking in with pets. We do it about three or four times a year

Sorry to threadjack but.....

Does anyone know if the worm and tick treatment has to be done at the vets when you're coming back into the UK? I have some Frontline and Milbemax but before I come back to the UK I'll be travelling through France, only staying in one place for a couple of nights or so. I'm not sure how I can find a vets to do the treatment before we get on the Eurotunnel?

Any info would be appreciated...

Thanks

No, has to be done and signed by a vet. If you google "English speaking vets Calais", I am sure you will find one, there are bound to be loads of people who do this.
