puppy won't wee or poo on walks

I have a 5 month old cockapoo, he is really good, well most of the time.

But whenever we go out anywhere either for a walk or visiting he won't go. As soon as we get home he dashes into the garden to pee, he can really hold it for ages.

Getting concerned as want to take him out for days soon with the weather getting better and don't want him to get uncomfortable thinking he can't or won't be able to go.

Just wondered if this was normal for his age.

This is quite common usuallly with bitches though. I had a bitch that held it for a whole weekend!

Will your dog poo or wee in the garden on a lead? I would start to take him outside on the lead. Make sure you have a command.

Then try to get him to wee in a different place to where he normally goes in the garden and he will soon grow out of this.

I guess he has no medical reason to stop him from weeing?

He will go in the garden on a lead and also on command just nothing when we go out.

Do you think he will grow out of this?

My five month old Lhasa Apso has only just started weeing on walks in the last couple of weeks, since he has begun to cock his leg. I presume he is marking now. He has still only pooed once away from home though!
Has your cockapoo started cocking his leg yet?

No he still squats, i thought it might be something to do with not cocking his leg, hopefully once he does that he might start.
