Hi,

A friends pug dog is missing, he was rescued from a pound several months ago and has been happy in his new home for months but yesterday the postman left the gate open and he has wandered away.

If you spot him please catch him, he is a very friendly dog and we are worried he will get run over!

Have posted this to Facebook (am a network rescuer so all my contacts are doggy or rescue people and will share). Please do the same and ask everyone else to as well.

When postering, put them especially in high pedestrian traffic areas - outside schools is a good one, people stop and are hanging around and kids are very observant and happy to help look out for a lost dog. Also vets for a WIDE area - email them a photo and phone numbers, outside POs, shops, in bus shelters/on bus stops etc. Sad to say this but if you have any "dodgy" areas with known problem households, flood that area too. A reward might help.

Keep the mobiles whose numbers you've put on posters with you and charged at all times - and put more than one number if at all possible. Ring dog wardens in neighbouring counties AND email description, photo and date/place of loss plus phone numbers to them all, your own included. Likewise local pounds and rescues. Get details of all those in your area from the Dog Wardens.

And good luck, hoping very much Thomas is found safe and well.... and nect time, with respect, NEVER leave your dog in a garden unattended. DOG THEFT IS RIFE, ALL MANNER OF DOGS ARE STOLEN, NOT JUST PEDIGREES AND NOT JUST TO SELL ON BUT FOR PUPPY FARMING, FIGHTING, BAIT FOR FIGHTING DOGS... YOUE DOG IS AT SERIOUS RISK.

Mobiles whose numbers???? What kind of English is that????

Sorry, I hope you get what I meant!

TotorosOcarina · 28/10/2010 15:49

lol,

hes not my dog, i never leave my girls in the garden!

they live in a quite isolated area so i think she thought he was safe having a wander in the garden :(

thanks so much for the advice val, will keep you updated.

Its so sad as he was lost(abandoned?!) once before and found a home and now hes out there wandering again

I'm near Chester, will deffo keep a look out and put it on my FB page. The dog wardens round here are pretty on the ball so chances are the dog will be picked up, is it chipped? When my dog escaped it was picked up by the dog warden and taken to a dog pound outside of Chester I only got her back coz I phoned round everywhere and found that's where they are taken. As soon as DH is home I will ask him the name of the place and its deffo worth ringing them, they charge you 75 quid before u can have the dog back tho.

Thanks so much, would appreciate that.

will pass it onto the owner.
