getting him tomorrow.
There's a picture on my profile.

I cannot wait to give him a hhyyyooooge hug

dropping in to say hello as I think I may be hanging about the doghouse quite a bit in the weeks to come Grin

Off out to buy everything for him tomorrow morning, as he was a very sudden rescue, needing a home.

he's approx 6 months. He was found at 5 weeks in a box outside a rescue centre. Sad

It might be worth remebering that the general rule of thumb for growing sighthound (and most other) puppies is no more than 5 minutes of exercise per month of life up to twice a day.

Which puts your boy at 2 x 30 min walks.

You don't have to stick to this religiously but too much exercise puts uneccesary strain on fast growing joints and can cause problems later on.

Also over-tired puppies are like over-tired children and can be little nightmares.

Even when sighthounds are grown up, they are generally happy with quite short walks - they are sprinters and have crap stamina! Lurchers better than greys, but we do longer walks on weekends with ours, and they are shattered afterwards, especially if lots of stimulation (new places, smells, visitors ) as well. DH runs with one greyhound (great for adult dogs, not for pups) and dog is quite happy to slumber contentedly afterwards. Unless you showed him a cat (when he would wake up Grin)

oh wow WTWTW, I didn't know that about the walk times. very interesting.
We don't have a garden, just a small yard, so not much space for play so just compensating for that really.

Thanks for your reassurance Scuttle and WTWTW. x

good night last night. settled well at 10 and started whimpering at 4, but left him 'til 5.45 as he didn't sound desperate, plus previous owners said he was going 8-9 hours crated at night.

feel much more positive after decent nights sleep.
