it’s been going on for months and due to a relationship breakdown with his dad i just started letting him come in with me for a bit as i have his 14 month old sister to sort also. but tonight he said he wanted to sleep in his bedroom so i said okay, and made it lovely and same thing, he wakes up screaming after an hour!! when he’s in with me he sleeps solid, not a peep. but whenever he’s in his room he’s awake crying!

what do i do?!

single mama so stuck for any help with it. tonight’s been awful, he’s woken up yelling and crying which disturbed his sister, so i’m in with him ticking his hand, then i go into her and he’s crying again, now im back in his room whilst he lays here wide awake refusing to close his eyes and go to sleep as he just wants me….but thing is when he sleeps in my bed he’s not with me anyway as i go downstairs!!

Is there a reason he can't sleep in with you? It sounds like that's the easiest solution right now and revisit in a few months time.

@NuffSaidSam i know, i’ve just been thinking when his sister is restless it’s disturbing him which i know he does wake! but i think last night trying to get him to sleep in his own room resulted in less sleep than just letting him stay in with me and being woken a couple of times by his little sis! he has said he wants to try and sleep in there again tonight (off his own back) so i’ll just do it gently. putting too much pressure on him and me!

Sorry to hear it…my almost 4yo is the same…moved a few months ago and ever since he is waking up most nights screaming, thrashing and unable to calm down…by the time he’s ok and back in bed I’m completely awake. I’m just hoping it will settle down eventually
