Ever had such bad insomnia you think you might have that deadly form of it?

I read once that there’s a rare insomnia condition that means you slowly get less and less sleep until your body shuts down and you die from exhaustion.

morbid; I know.

but sometimes I’ll be awake at night not able to sleep and wonder if that’s the beginning of it for me 😂

ive been awake since 1:30.

Thankfully my insomnia usually only occurs once or twice a week but when I'm trying to function at work after zero sleep I do wonder if this is what's going to finish me off. I haven't managed any sleep yet and it's 4.40... need to be up at 8. Everything feels worse at 4am, money worries, state of my life in general. I may just get up and make a start on the Christmas decorations!

@SugarMiceInTheRain i get the worries too, with two pairs of little feet digging into my back. - and I wonder why I get no sleep!

Our decs are up, but I am planning a pre-Christmas deep clean.. maybe I should start doing that overnight. Would probably actually be quite peaceful.

If you mean Fatal familial insomnia., it is genetic and incredibly rare. There are only 70 known families worldwide that carry the gene.

Assuming there is no familial link (by that I mean extended family members with it) I would say you probably don't have it.

It just shows how mad your (one’s) brain is when you can’t sleep. I really thought I had cracked it for a while there with Hypnos bedtime drink but here I am again on third consecutive bad night…..
