Is it safe to have the cot with one side off and up against our bed if our mattress is higher??

Is it safe to take the side off of cot and have it next to Our bed like a co sleeper? It's a cot bed so a side can be removed and the cot is perfectly secure.

Our bed is about 4 inches higher than the cot? Is that ok? Baby is 6 months and I need some sleep 😭 he'll also be wearing an owlet sock.

Do other people do this? Is it dangerous if it's not flush with our bed?

As long as there isn’t a risk of his face getting squashed against the mattress side. At six months though he can move well, so he can wriggle around if necessary.

could you buy 'cot lifts/risers' (or in our case we used books ) to lift the cot to the same height - I remember 'wedging and blanket in the gap - so it was a smooth transition -and securing with cable ties

I wouldnt do this…

Not safe and neither is the advice to lift mattress and use cable ties. It doesn't matter that baby is 6 months old, they are still tiny and could easily get wedged/head stuck in an unsafe sleeping position and not be able to get themselves out. Please follow the safe sleep guidelines.

Please do not do this. Baby could get stuck between the two mattresses.
