On last night at 10pm - it was fab. I love Olivia Coleman and she's great in this. I don't like much on TV at the moment so was really surprised!

I bloody love it too... absolute genius. Liked it last week a lot and liked it even better this!

mrswobblebottom · 06/07/2010 09:29

I watched trying to think where I had seen the verger/curate Nigel before, googgled him and its Archie the inventor from Balamory!!!

minko · 06/07/2010 10:20

Ha, I knew I knew him from somewhere!!

Loving this too. The evangelical church group were hysterical - loved the smoothie bar

Lauriefairycake · 06/07/2010 11:18

Thought this was great -dh and I laughed a lot

elkiedee · 06/07/2010 17:44

I quite enjoyed it - started watching unintentionally after Mary Porttas, and might have to start watching it regularly.

Maybe it's background coming out - my parents weren't religious, rather the opposite, but I'm a vicar's granddaughter.

Pinner35 · 07/07/2010 10:45

I watched it for the first time last night and I'm hooked. I laughed from start to finish.....

FoJo · 08/07/2010 22:06

blimey MrsW, I've sky+ this and just watched, very funny, having read this I had another look as hadnt deleted it, how on earth did you manage to spot him, stunning!

MaryBS · 08/07/2010 22:08

Really, Nigel is in Balamory???? (and he's a Reader, not a verger/curate - like me! )

DaisySteiner · 13/07/2010 08:56

I just caught up with this on iplayer - I was really surprised how good it was and how much I laughed! Lots of vicars in the family and got dragged a long to a few evangelical meetings like Darren's group, so that made me laugh a lot! Will definitely be watching this regularly. Why is the comedy on BBC2 always so much better than the comedy on BBC1???

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 17/07/2010 22:42

It is really good isn't it. I have the first three sky plussed, so am just watching them now. I think it is really very funny. I agree with Daisy in that i do wonder how the schedulers decide what goes on BBC1 and what goes on BBC2 and BBC4 as often the programmes on 2 and 4 are much better!

CarmelitaMiggs · 19/07/2010 22:36

just flagging this again -- truly it's unusually good

I love Simon McBurney as the archdeacon but whole cast is without exception fantastic

so well written

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2010 16:58

very funny

loved the vicar who borrowed his church with the smoothies etc

pinkteddy · 02/08/2010 22:56

Did anyone see the last episode tonight? Adam's dancing was absolutely hilarious! So sad that was the end of the series, hope they make another one.

SpeedyGonzalez · 02/08/2010 22:59

Wow, I'm shocked. I tried this a few weeks ago, found it predictable and derivative and didn't laugh once. I always love Olivia Coleman in anything, though, so she was the one bright star in what I thought was an otherwise dull universe.

Well, butterfly, if one of you had actually thought about my need to rant, and started this thread earlier in the season, I might have posted that earlier. I mean, who do you lot think you are???

Humph!

Humbug!

Ugly Betty's starting soon - in the next couple of weeks.

SlartyBartFast · 02/08/2010 23:43
