"I feel sorry for the grandma, she has obviously been treated quite badly by her family and has been pushed out of her grandsons life."
you think?!
People emigrate all the time and I think that's rather different to being pushed out.
My MIL lives abroad, could I then say that she has pushed her sons out of her life or is it more that she is living her own life?
From what I saw the grandmother had built up a strong bond with her grandson when her own daughter was ill but the fact that she was so upset when they moved away once her cancer had gone was weird because all the upset was focused on her grandson's absence rather than the absence of her daughter too, which would have been a lot more normal.
