ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 29/06/2010 21:27

God, I saw this before. Sorry, but those 'babies' are right mingers.

turningvioletviolet · 29/06/2010 21:27

it's all rather sad. gosh, i really don't want to watch it but can't tear myself away - have my hands over my eyes though as it's quite painful to watch.

cookielove · 29/06/2010 21:31

I flicked back onto it, after writing on here, when the lady was buying the stupidly expensive clothes and accesories for her fake baby, dp turned round and was like why is she wasting so much on her baby, so i tell him its fake, to which he replies, even i have seen this before

Katz · 29/06/2010 21:51

its so strange!

The grandma, what i thought was odd was the way she spoke about harry was as if he had died, for ages i thought oh so thats why she wants this baby, but no just moved!! She asked her daughter to leave him behind, she seemed a little odd me thinks.

Katz · 29/06/2010 22:03

cookie - i'd assumed that too that her grandson had died not that he'd moved to the other side of the world. Very strange.

its the one who gets the 'broken' baby... she was so upset.... the mind boggles, i was screaming at the tv, 'ITS A DOLLY!'

katedan · 29/06/2010 22:10

I feel sorry for the grandma, she has obviously been treated quite badly by her family and has been pushed out of her grandsons life. The lady who goes to the US is very odd and I think needs help. She even says she does not want her own children as she could not put up with the noise!

Olihan · 29/06/2010 22:16

If you google the crazy broken doll woman's name you can see pictures of her and her dh on holiday with their 'children', including a toddler sized doll.

It's one of the funniest but most tragic things I've ever seen.

She has huge MH issues, imo.

Nezzi · 29/06/2010 23:03

This programme is so sad, I've never seen anything like it. Those dolls are the stuff of nightmares!
The women surely have depression / MH issues.
Did "Harry" breathe?
Their husbands are V understanding but they need to get them help.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 30/06/2010 10:47

I think there was a good reason why Harry's mum took him to the other side of the world.

Doodleydoo · 30/06/2010 10:50

Chicken, I am with you! Mad programme.

DuelingFanjo · 30/06/2010 10:54

"I feel sorry for the grandma, she has obviously been treated quite badly by her family and has been pushed out of her grandsons life."

you think?!

People emigrate all the time and I think that's rather different to being pushed out.

My MIL lives abroad, could I then say that she has pushed her sons out of her life or is it more that she is living her own life?

From what I saw the grandmother had built up a strong bond with her grandson when her own daughter was ill but the fact that she was so upset when they moved away once her cancer had gone was weird because all the upset was focused on her grandson's absence rather than the absence of her daughter too, which would have been a lot more normal.

TheSmallClanger · 30/06/2010 12:38

Oh yes, I remember this. Me and DH watched in open-mouthed silence.
The younger woman who was shown buying a doll in America clearly had some quite scary issues - I wouldn't let her near a real child. The grandmother was the victim of editing, I think, but the way that she appeared to have a grudge against her daughter for recovering from leukaemia was a little chilling. Instead of buying creepy dollies, why wasn't she saving up to go and visit her grandson?
