Private Practice - was it the first episode last night or a re-cap?

Really dur of me but sky plussed Grey's Anatomy but forgot to do the same for Private Practice. And living tv is so annoying, they seem to repeat Four Weddings ad nauseam but there are no repeats of pp until new episode next thursday.
Anyway can anyone tell me whether last night's episode was the season opener or whether it starts properly next week. If it was the season's opening episode does anyone know where on the web I can catch it.

hell living tv is annoying - their schedules are all over the place, sometimes they repeat grey's sometimes not.
Bella, do you mind telling me what happened as I've tried watching it online to no avail...

The episode begins with Pete, Sam and Naomi all stand together at a funeral under the southern California sun?
Pete and Naomi find Violet bleeding and unconscious in her living room. Katie and the baby are nowhere in sight but they rush Violet to the hospital and Addison gets started on the surgery. They flash back to the first days of the practice ? Violet and Cooper are the first two doctors to be brought into the practice by Sam and Naomi, who were both still happy and married at the time. Violet and Cooper become fast friends. Sam introduces his friend Pete, who had lost his wife four days ago. He seemed to be dealing with the death of his wife a little too well but Pete was very closed off, revealing very little information about his wife's death.
Back in the operating room, Addison and Naomi are doing everything they can do to save Violet. Pete is frustrated that he's unable to help out and Cooper is blaming himself for not checking on Violet when he was nearby. Dell tries to find out some more information for everyone outside, but any information that he would have gotten would not have been good news. Addison and Naomi discover that a hysterectomy could save Violet's life, but it means that she would never be able to have another child. Addison consults with Pete and Sheldon and they decide to do whatever it takes to save Violet's life.
In another flashback, Sam and Naomi are trying to figure who else they can bring into the practice. Sam suggests bringing Pete into the practice. Violet thinks it's a bad idea since he was a patient, and he had trouble dealing with his grief. He eventually opens to Violet saying that he and his wife had a bad relationship and that they had fought the night before he died. The next morning, he continued to yell at her when she was lying there dead, because he thought she was just ignoring him and he was worried about what kind of a person that makes him. After that session, Violet gives her consent to bring Pete on to the practice. Pete decides to accept the position, but switches his specialty to holistic medicine.
Cooper gets paged and is shocked to see that Katie has arrived holding Violet's baby. They call security and are able to get her to hand the baby over to Pete and Katie is taken into custody. The baby is in critical condition and Addison now has to divide her time between Violet's surgery and the baby's. Both patients make it through surgery and the baby seems safe but Violet doesn't wake up after the surgery.

Another flash to the funeral and Violet takes Pete's hand. The funeral is for Pete's wife. Violet wakes up from surgery to see her friends there. Her very first thought is about the baby, and Pete brings her newborn son over to her.

Living can be a nightmare,my v+ didnt record last episode of medium and they didnt repeat that either,luckily found it somewhere on net and it was an important one too.
Such a pain.And yet four wedding is on constant loop.
