As usual, the BBC have ballsed up when they are onto a good thing with the announcements re the pro's on the new show in Sept.
Brian has resigned, as he, Darren & Lilia, Matthew and Ian have been asked back only to perform Pro dances each week, rather than coaching a celeb. Celebs are down to 14 and 3 new male pros in. www.bbc.co.uk/strictlycomedancing/news/2010_first_news.shtml.
It would appear that being successful enough to win, or to take part in shows around the UK on your own merit, now means that you are prime target for being cut....are the BBC worried their pros are better liked (and/or better known) than their "celebs"??
Thoughts, ladies, please?

I am pleased that they are having fewer couples this year, but I hate the changes they keep making. The pros are as popular now as the slebs and effectively getting rid of some of the most popular ones is daft.

I didn't enjoy it as much last year as previous years (although I liked that they went back to Blackpool). There were rumours about some of the slebs from the US version taking part in the UK one. I don't think I would watch if this were the case, as the point is that they are learning each dance for the first time.

I also hate that they are making changes again (sigh...) why can't they just leave it as it is. I love strictly but am sick of the producers trying to revamp it. If you don't like it, watch another channel (of which there are hundreds...)

Bring back Arlene and get back to basics.

Less couples is good. But they've ditched some of my favourite pros!
I might not be as addicted this year. Probably better fir me- did worry I subjected ds to too much it takes two last year!

WhatShallMyNameBe · 09/06/2010 20:56

I love It Takes Two

DastardlyandSmugly · 09/06/2010 21:02

DH saw Brian an Ali in a club in Dublin recently - they were all over each other and v. much in love.

Am sad he's gone. I liked Brian.

DownyEmerald · 09/06/2010 21:50

Glad less couples, but sad to see those pros go especially Brian and Matt.

Expect I'll spend more time watching ITT than the shows again like last year!

bathbuns · 09/06/2010 22:03

I must be one of the few people who think the new changes are great.

The show needs some fresh energy and I've always enjoyed new professionals coming in.

I love ITT as well, as long as they don't touch that I'm happy.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 09/06/2010 22:08

If Ian Waite goes, I will cry.

mrsflux · 10/06/2010 07:32

Do you think people love ITT more than the actual shows?

I do!

HollyGoHeavily · 10/06/2010 07:36

No more Matt Cutler he was one of the main reasons I watched it....

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 10/06/2010 13:50

i love love love Claudia and ITT, but also love the main shows. If they were going to get rid of anyone, they should get rid of bloody brucie and tess. Let anton and claud present the main show.... that would be my revamp!!!

potplant · 10/06/2010 14:38

Less couples - yes
Less Ian Waite - noooooooooooo

Perhaps the pros are getting a bit too £££. Some of the pros are more famous than the celebs! And Anton survived the cull.. what are they thinking?

ItalyLovingMummy · 11/06/2010 11:54

I stopped watching last year when they gave Arlene the boot. Why this obsession with youth on the bbc? It is a different audience than for the X Factor and before they mucked up last year the beeb got good ratings for Strictly. I liked the old format before last year and think that the Beeb are just ruining Strictly. Just a thought, but maybe replace Bruce and get rid of TD too? I think Claudia should do the TD job, she has a good sense of humour and would personality. I don't dislike Bruce, but for the amount of money he is paid I don't really think he adds that much to Strictly. Get one of the male dancers to do Bruce's bit - Matt would have been good for that.
