Did hear they're running out of money

MrsBubsDeVere · 10/08/2005 11:47

It's a bit frightening and thought provoking isn't it?

WWB - shows Childline staff answering calls and kids on the other end of line are shown, at first in close up but when shot pulls back to show office you see each adult with child next to them, each child getting help. Also keeps cutting to shots of each childs problems.

The girl under the desk is worried about a drunken mum blaming her for marriage break-up; boy is getting bullied and beaten at school; girl with nosebleed beaten violently by step-dad.

Ends with empty desk and unanswered ringing phone with a girl (presumably dead) slumped against wall.

Very harrowing and effective.

I don't think it's as shocking as some of the adds I've seen for the NSPCC. The baby with the needle in it's arm springs to mind..

The charity has a big funding crisis, and may not be able to offer a 24 hour service, particularly to children calling at night - and this is when the service is needed most.

They've seen a big drop in funds since the Tsunami Disaster.
