They're good, aren't they. Looking at the Swedish Wallander, I could understand better why they cast Kenneth Branagh for the british version-swedish one Much better.

midnightexpress · 04/06/2010 18:38

I agree that the Swedish one is heaps better. Loved it. V sad story about the actress who played Linda though - apparently she was involved in the Tsunami and saved her tiny child, but never really recovered, and killed herself a couple of years later.

tablefor3 · 07/06/2010 12:57

Oohh .... can any of you lot help?

Does anyone know if the programme has explained why/where Linda has gone? I know about the actress (really sad), and have seen a few scenes of Wallander looking sadly at a picture, but wasn;t sure if/how the writers had written Linda out.

Anyway, any help appreciated.

diddl · 07/06/2010 13:39

I don´t think there was an explanation.

I think the author was still writing about the character when the actress who played her died & it was just left-he didn´t finish the book.

Sonilaa · 07/06/2010 14:32

the new wallander films are not any more directly based on the henning mankel books afaik.
I still like them, they have the same gloomy athmosphere. love it.

I wasn't sure how they were going to work without Linda and Stefan, but I too have really enjoyed this latest series. There are some really strong characters and the acting is excellent.

I have a soft spot for Svartman, especially in the early episodes - something awful seemed to happen to him every week .

myfaceisatomato · 07/06/2010 18:59

Yes, that's right they've run out of books. Stefan and Linda were great. I love Svartman and Nyberg too, though Isabelle and Pontus are starting to get on my nerves (every week they go into a situation without back-up and the same thing happens ....).

myfaceisatomato · 07/06/2010 19:10

Sorry I meant to add that diddl is right - the author has publicly said he will never write about the character of Linda again because he was devastated by what happened to JS in real life.

diddl · 07/06/2010 20:52

Yes, Pontus & Isabel def. annoying.

I miss Stefan

Sonilaa · 20/06/2010 13:21
