Story about it here. Brilliant move by Sky IMO as even if you can't watch it till Monday evening, that's still only one day of having to avoid the internet to beat spoilers. Plus gingernorks will be unable to spoil it on here! Woo hoo!

I've been blubbing and not at all disappointed

izzybiz · 24/05/2010 07:17

So, when did they all die then?

I am Lost!!! 6 years and I don't understand the ending

So everything that happened on the island, was it real? Dharma, the others, what happened to claires baby, the numbers?

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh

saslou · 24/05/2010 07:29

Have I got this right - they all died at different times, some on the island and others after they left the island and the church is a meeting place before they go to the afterlife? What was real for Sun and Jin? Did they die on the island and their baby was not on the island? Don't think they have explained properly how all these people were connected in their lives before they got on the plane, cos they kept crossing each others lives. What about the lottery numbers. Feel a bit thick asking...

Hollyoaks · 24/05/2010 07:43

I'm totally . Did the ones on the plane die in the crash and the others like Daniel and Charlotte die later?

Why did some of them leave the island and then come back?

There are too many loose ends.

Shoshe · 24/05/2010 07:55

Jin died on the island, on the ship, Sun went onto have the baby, then died on her return to the island.

Juliet died in the pit, Sawyer died when the plane didnt make at the end.

Charlie died when he drowned, Claire and Aaron died when she went missing, Kate never found him.

Hurley died a long time after the others as guardian of the island. Ben is still guardian.

Shannon and Boone died on the island, Sayid died at the temple.

Kate died with Sawyer, Jack died in the light.

Make any sense.

Shoshe · 24/05/2010 07:58

Daniel and Charlotte died, when looking for the original plane crash.

The Island is the waiting place, between life and death, where we put all our wrongs right, and find all our loose ends put together.

izzybiz · 24/05/2010 08:12

So what does the Dharma initutive and the polar bear have to do with it though?

So they didn't actually die in the first crash then? Otherwise they wouldn't have been able to leave and come back.

And "The Others" who were they? Ben didn't go into the church, is he left to do Jacobs job now? Did Jacob and the man in black really die?

They have left far too much unanswered for me!

Shoshe · 24/05/2010 08:17

Think the Dhama Initiative are trying to find out how to get to the otherside, and the Others are beings in Limbo.

God knows what the polar bears were all about, think the writers just threw them in to confuse

Hollyoaks · 24/05/2010 08:20

So what was Charles Whitmore's role in all of this? Why was he trying to find the island?

Shoshe · 24/05/2010 08:22

To find his son Daniel, who had died, he thought he could get him back.

Hollyoaks · 24/05/2010 08:30

What about the button pressing and numbers in season two though?

Why did the island move through time?

There are so many questions.

Thediaryofanobody · 24/05/2010 08:32

What's really annoyed me is basically they where in purgatory. Something which the writers outright dismissed in season one, that annoys me because if I'd know then I wouldn't have watched another 5 years!
And now I cant get to sleep to add insult to injury.

EightiesChick · 24/05/2010 10:40

Shoshe,

I didn't think they all died like that.. when we see them at the church at the end they're all dead, but Christian Shepherd said 'some of them died before you, some of them long after'. Plus the plane went overhead with Kate Sawyer etc on it - how wold we know that they didn't make it? We just don't know with them what happened next, how long they lived and how they eventually died. Just that when they did, they ended up reunited in the alternative timeline/world with all the other 815 passengers and their important people.

blondewithbump · 24/05/2010 10:50

shoshe,
i think you might have got it wrong! Everything that happened on the island was real. The whole of the side time line where they ended up at the church was the 'purgatory' place that they had all constructed in their minds to come to terms with what happened on the island before they died.
They all died at different times. For example, the plane did get off the island and kate, sawyer etc would have lived out their lives. That's why Kate said to Jack 'I have missed you', because she died long after she left the island, whereas Jack died on the island.
Also Hurley said to Ben you were a great number 2, which suggests that they lived on the island for a long time after the plane left before they died.
And Jack's dad said some people died before Jack and some a long time after.
Jin and Sun died on the sub, and their baby would have lived whereever Sun left her when she returned to the island to find Jin.
Has taken me most of the morning to work it out though and there are still millions of loose ends!

diddl · 24/05/2010 10:53

So they are all dead?

Thank heavens I gave up after series 2!

Hollyoaks · 24/05/2010 10:54

That would explain why jack was smiling when he saw Kate's plane flying overhead. So, they got off the island and lived potentially long lives, but in the end they all met up eventually.

That would also explain why Jack suddenly had a son, and why Locke told him he didn't. His son only existed in 'purgatory'.

However, when did Claire and Aaron die then because they were both there in the church at the end.

diddl · 24/05/2010 10:59

All a bit Ashes to Ashes by the sound of it!

blondewithbump · 24/05/2010 11:18

claire was on the plane with kate and sawyer so she would have gone back home with them and presumably raised aaron. They would have just died whenever their time was up, like kate and sawyer and the other people who made it off the island on the plane.

Hollyoaks · 24/05/2010 11:33

Doh that makes sense

Shoshe · 24/05/2010 11:33

I think your right, the ones on the plane did live on, as did hurley and ben.

Oh it is sooooooooo confusing!¬

blondewithbump · 24/05/2010 11:46

it was very confusing! Am still sitting here trying to work things out, but I loved it!

LostGirl · 24/05/2010 11:49

Is anyone else disappointed? Yes, it was a satisfying ending if you just focused on the characters, but with regards to all the twists and turns and symbols and numbers it feels a bit of a cop out. And what about Walt? Was he not meant to be special? And surely Vincent should have been with them at the end

blondewithbump · 24/05/2010 12:01

I felt a bit disappointed not to get more answers, but I was happy with how it ended. Maybe with Walt and Vincent and other islanders who were not in the church, they were able to come to terms with what happened on the island so once they died they didn't have to go to the purgatory place. Maybe not though!

Haliborange · 24/05/2010 12:01

It's almost as bad as if there had been a voiceover announcing "and then they woke up and it was all a dream".

Haliborange · 24/05/2010 12:21

I don't believe for a second that this is where the originators planned the story going. Otherwise why bother with all the numbers, going on in interviews about Hurley being special etc etc? Makes no sense. I mean, maybe they had no idea where the story was going, but effectively a group hallucination (?) of polar bears is a little pointless.

Oh and Walt's probably not in the church because the actor grew up in the past 6 years and now looks like this!. I'm pretty sure dead people are not meant to age!
