Random musings on Neighbours

I am currently going through and off period in neighbours and have only been dipping in an out of it, so forgive me if this has already been cleared up. I don't understand why Toadie and Steph are still pretending to be together. Can't they now just say they have realised they are not mean't to be together after all, but during the time they were together Steph got pg. It would make no difference if Toadie is still going to pretend to be the father anyway. Steph would definitely be able to get Lucas back (although I know that with him actually being the baby's uncle it would add difficulty), and Sonia might take Toadie back.

Secondly; whilst I like Rebecca - does she own anything other than wrap dresses?

I wonder why Lynn hasn't been sectioned or at least prescribed some very strong happy pills. She's not right.

uhohgirl · 14/05/2010 22:37

you're trying to understand neighbours? Give up now, it'll never happen!

2shoes · 14/05/2010 23:47

donna needs help she is sooooooooooo accident prone

SongBiird · 15/05/2010 06:51

You can't understand neighbours, just sit back and watch the fluffy nonsense. I so prefer it to grimy miserable soaps like Eastenders.

nomorecake · 15/05/2010 17:12

I agree about the toadie and steph thing, why don't they just say they had a fling or one night stand. Or that she did with someone else?

Makes no sense. Well not unless dan comes back and she doesn't want him to suspect that the baby's his. Dans still in the opening credits isn't he?

How come it took Lucas all of 5 Mins to get over fiancé elle, but can't gt over steph?!

When will lyn fall down a mine shaft and be left there forever, oh sorry that's just wishful thinking.

( by the way, does anyone know where I can GET A LIFE??)

bambipie · 17/05/2010 17:23

Steph / Toadie story is really daft! Why can't she pretend it was just a one-night-stand?

I was trying to work out who lives in Paul's house. I reckon it is:

Paul & Rebecca
Declan
Baby
Donna
Lucas
Andrew

Big house!! And weird for someone as uncharitable as Paul - pretty much a youth hostel!

Hitandrunthreadkiller · 17/05/2010 22:15

Killed it

NoseyNooNoo · 18/05/2010 00:15

You can't kill Neighbours - they're like ants - invincible!

CuppaTeaJanice · 18/05/2010 12:57

Does Andrew have the worst accent on telly?

The actor's obviously Australian, playing a guy who's been brought up in Scotland(?), but he keeps forgetting, saying a line in an Australian accent, then overcompensating with a couple of words in a very dodgy Scottish accent.

And why has Summer come back to live with her dad's ex wife?

Iklboo · 18/05/2010 13:01

Ah, now I thought you meant the people who live next door to me, not the TV show
You can tell, therefore, that I don't watch it. Please carry on without me!

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 18/05/2010 17:10

Ah yes Paul's house in neighbours is like the caravan park in Home and Away, and the Queen Vic in Eastenders - Tardises (is the plural Tardi?)

It is apparent from Neighbours and H&A that no teenager in Australia lives with their family. In fact the only ones I can think of are Andrew in Neighbours and Xavier in H&A.

Re Andrew's accent, the actor is Scottish and apparently has the strange morphed Scottish/Australian accent in RL.

All I can say is that I go back to work in a couple of weeks, so I won't be able to watch. I can guarantee that next time I am on Maternity Leave I will be able to pick them up just as easily again

Libby lives with her mum and dad
they do loose parents a lot though(was thinking that today)

leavingonajetplane · 18/05/2010 18:06

This is why Neighbours and H&A are teenagers dream life- loose the parents and move easily in with any random set of neighbours.

Susan Kennedy has form with this. But Paul is beginning to challenge her.

Not getting the Toadie/Steph thing but obviously they are going to drag this one out for months - Toadie getting his diary out today was a warning to us all. And this is one baby that will survive as there is just so much potential for angsty scenes.

I believe Rebecca even got married in a wrap dress. I do like her and Declan though.

leavingonajetplane · 18/05/2010 18:08

And to warn anyone not aware - James Napier has left and Declan will morph into new Declan soon.

Which self-obessed Kate wont even notice I'll bet.

leavingonajetplane · 18/05/2010 18:08

James Sorenson (edit, edit, edit)

CuppaTeaJanice · 19/05/2010 19:00

Well Libby didn't notice that Lucas is actually the first edition of her ex, Darren Stark. And nobody has noticed Summer's different too. So you're probably right...

NoseyNooNoo · 19/05/2010 23:13

Was the actor playing Lucas the original Darren Stark - how bizarre!

leavingonajetplane · 20/05/2010 11:04

Libby didnt even notice when she herself changed heads for a while last year so fair enough, theres no hope of her realising about Lucas/Darren.

The new credits have simplified things greatly - label the character with their name just in case we are having trouble keeping up.

2shoes · 20/05/2010 11:06

Kate is very annoying

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 20/05/2010 12:52

I've been wondering about the whole Toadie/Steph thing - but I guess it makes far better telly for them to carry on with the idiotic charade than to take the sensible approach, break up and then Steph can 'discover' she's pregnant.

minko · 20/05/2010 17:00

Gawd, today's 'storyline' with Dec in the Officer and a Gentleman get-up was just plain stupid. They really aren't bothering with a plot these days are they!? His strip was pathetic too. Takes t-shirt off, makes 120 dollars... righto...

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 20/05/2010 18:30

I was going to post about that; who on earth goes to a posh restaurant dressed like that. I wouldn't be seen dead with DH like that.

Also if it was as posh as it was made out to be, would they allow a stripper?

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 20/05/2010 18:33

btw did anyone see Bouncer's dream on This Morning today? And we think they have reached a storyline low now...

OP posts:
leavingonajetplane · 20/05/2010 19:12

Never saw The Dream but remember the Madge actress saying how embarassed the cast were.

Im sure Declan, who does have some self-respect, moved out after kate tried to make him watch Officer and a Gentleman 3 times in one evening...

They stole that whole idea from friends didnt they?

Cloudbase · 23/05/2010 00:30

Ever since the plane crash that killed half of Ramsey St, they have had massive disaster movie scenarios every 6 months (Lassiters burning down, the wedding bus crash, the nightclub disaster, the forest fire, the car crash that killed didge etc etc) in an attempt to 'refresh' the cast.

Aren't we due another one?
