Can't seem to find much for my DD age 7 to watch at the mo - she is quite a serious child and likes more sensible factual stuff than most of what seems to be on offer. She likes Blue Peter and documentary type things best. any suggestions gratefully received. we have SKY + by the way. Thanks

dd(7) likes lots of animal documentaries on Animal Planet and National Geographic and she's just discovered Roar on CBBC

Bang goes the Theory (BBC1 on Mondays) - my 5 and 8 yr old love it

Any of the "What the romans/greeks/ancients did for us" - these get repeated on UK history channel quite a bit. UK History worth looking at as they repeat e.g. Life.

The recent Richard Hammond series on invisible worlds was good too, lots of exciting pictures.

We'll record the story of science but not sure if it will be suitable for a 7yr old.

My 6 year old likes Relic - guardians of the museum and jungle run, MI High and the Sarah Jane Adventures. There is also a version of Its a Knock Out thats quite fun.

ooo! definitely horrible histories... if she has a bit of a sense of humour.. deadly 60 which is all about deadly animals...Roar, the it's a knockout prog - Total Wipeout is brilliant fun...

my dd1 (8) and ds(6) are dinosaur mad and will watch anything related ... Prehistoric Park with NIgel Marven was/is fantastic entertainment docu/drama if you must!

also they love the BBC Blue Planet / Planet Earth... DD2 (3) loves the Blue Planet, she is the family exoert on Angler Fish...

sone of these you'll find on dvd / iplayer

it is hard to find something decent to watch... akthough i'm horrified that the current fave at the moment is flippin' Horrid Henry and crappy Dennis The menace!
